Re: VR6 Gti or Prelude Vtec

wait...

you are saying a CAI and an exhaust can get a 2.0L as fast as a 1.8t.....

O_o

get a supercharger, and you STILL won't beat a 1.8T

they'll do the talking:

http://www.jettaowners.com/vbulletin...0&page=1&pp=15

and like I said, you'll get more power from the same amount of money you spent on your 1.8t than a VR6, unless it's high numbers, like 10k$, then the VR6 will probably become faster because of the larger engine
the 1.8T gets the head start because it has a turbo, but ultimately, the VR6 will rule over it with the right amount of money, which is pretty much
and also because the 1.8T comes with a turbo, so it'll get more power for the bucks compared to a VR6 for the first while

Re: VR6 Gti or Prelude Vtec

The 2.0L engine's suck unless they are in something other than a Mk3 or Mk4 dub. Even turboed they max out at about 250hp at the fly.

yeah CAI and a straight pipe, but maybe it was because there was another guy in his car. My car is stripped down now an it will do the 1/4 in the high 12's, plus its a lot of fun on the track!

Re: VR6 Gti or Prelude Vtec

I agree with VIN.ZNT at first it's easy to make the 1.8T a hell of a lot faster than the VR6. Money to hp ratio is a lot more economical than the VR6. I should know I have a VR6. A chip on a 1.8T will give 20-35hp and around 30-40tq. abd's new CAI has proven to give around 11hp, downpipe, exhaust and dv will help it breath easier, and a FMIC will keep it much cooler than the forearm sized stick side mount intercooler.

Now if you have enough money to buy a turbo or supercharger for the VR6 and get a big valve turbo head you are now looking at the very least 300whp. Add Schrick 248 turbo cams plus the obvious cat back exhaust and you have an evil machine wich will send you into the next dimension.

It's your choice man.

I still think Mk3's and Mk4's are overrated...but that's just me.

Re: VR6 Gti or Prelude Vtec

The exuast note on the Vr6 is in a compleatly different realm of badass than the fart can, pissed off bumble bee noise of the VTecs.
