Re: importing a skyline

I've been doing a lot of research on this....seems the only real way to get them in is as kit cars...where bodies are shipped separately from the drivetrain.

I've got a colleague who has three of them. All titled in different states, all registered, all with VIN #'s. In fact, he just sold a car to a client in Arizona who FINANCED the car, I think through Capital One.

When we brought them in for 2 Fast 2 Furious, it was a complicated process...I think Tyndago was a big help with that process, but since then, it seems that many companies were claiming to be able to do it, but none delivered.

So far, this colleague seems to have the system figured out. I'm pretty sure they're not DOT or 50 state EPA legal, but in most states, that doesn't appear to be stopping his clients from registering, titling and insuring the cars.

I visited his shop last week...he has two GORGEOUS R34 GT-R's and is now venturing into S15's.

The GT-R's seem to be fetching about $75-80k, but they're mint. That's what I paid for mine back in 2001 and it was not nearly as nice.

Re: importing a skyline

and about the "separate the body from the drivetrain", do you mean that you have to disassemble the car when you ship it to USA?

HE has the Skylines...he brought them in for advertising and promotion of another component of his business. I told him that I'd assist his broker, whomever he picks, to help put the word out that some R34's are available.

They'll be sold through some process, I believe, using a broker, as he can't sell them direct. The broker is paid a small fee by the seller, not the buyer.

And yes, the cars come over in pieces. They are then "remanufactured" as "kit cars," in essence using legal loopholes that, as it turns out, work in many states.

Candidly, if I had the bucks, I'd pick one up. The cars are beautiful.

And yes, I do have pics.

He's right. My non-muscle car has only been clocked at 163 (no, ma'am, that's not KPH, either). It's not a "muscle car" because it has four doors and weighs 4,600 pounds, and can fit most "tuner" cars in its trunk. "Muscle cars" with the same or more engine would almost certainly be slower - It's just simple Need for Speed physics, DOOD. You're right about one thing, though, my "barge" only pulls 0.87 on the skidpad, so it doesn't really handle as well as a many other vehicles.

Well, the reason I ask, is because you claim to have a Skyline, yet have shown no real knowledge of how to 1. Discuss them and their importation intelligently 2. Put together coherent and intelligent sentences 3. Persuade any of us to believe you.

So, take a picture of you with your username on a piece of paper in front of your skyline and show us. That's it. Should take you all over about 5 minutes to do.

At this point, if you refuse to furnish proof of the claims you've been making, I'll take the noncompliance as making false claims and will ban you.

There. Now you have incentive. Get to it.
