A very steep decline! It seems like the majority of violent crimes these days are being committed by kids! If they are all starting their criminal lives so young what do we have to look foward to when they grow up?

Probably because the courts have shielded people from the true punishment they have coming to them.

I wouldn't say it is the courts. It is the lack of discipline that is running amock in our society today. No one has to take responsibility for their actions anymore. I have seen so many parents saying "oh.. it isn't my kid" or "not his fault, he has issues". Lack of personal responsibility has become the norm. IMO we need to change this quick, or humanity is in deep trouble.

I don't know how you can say that when the courts have seen the need to ban parents from spanking there kids. Our courts slowly define what we percieve to be acceptable behavior.

I isn't just our courts. You can't blame this on one area. The judicial system is definitely broken, but remember, it is the people who run the courts, not the courts who run the people. If we want change, we need to make it happen, not just sit back and cry about it. Again it comes down to no personal responsibility. You want it to change? Take some responsibility and do something to make that happen.

America has become so populated that we can enjoy great amounts of anonimity and sherk any responsibility without reprecussion. In doing so, that has become the norm and people who take responsibility are usually penalized, not praised.

I am trying my hardest to raise my children to be honest and responsible adults. To take blame when it is due, and to change what can be changed. I don't ever make excuses for their behaior, instead we make CHANGES. I hope others are doing the same thing and eventually things will start to change back to personal responsibility and away from government babysitting.

What part if it is ILLEGAL to spank your kids in some areas are you not understanding. Kind of have to put the blame for that on the courts right?

Re: This makes me f*cking SICK

Interesting!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I find that our laws have become strict, and in some {if not many} cases counter-productive.

Beating or killing for no "rational" purpose is not allowed. The lines get very blurred by the single term "rational". Who decides rationality? The courts and legal system. {there's more to it than that, but that's the gist}.

It really reminds me of a commercial with a mom and young daughter grocery shopping. The ad was for a kid's supplement drink. Anyway~~~~~~~~

The mom picked up good food items, and the kid kept whining how she didn't like broccoli or chicken, etc. My initial reaction was "then let the little bitch f'ing go hungry". The ad then goes to the product, a drink supplement for kids. Mom is shown buying the drink, and the kid drinking it.

I saw the commercial as an adult relinquishing to a small child. If in real life, chances are very good that mom will get herself in deep trouble for failing to provide, or whatever, unless she aquiesces to the CHILD!!!!!!!!!! Good grief.

It's a mixed bag, I think. Courts allow and enforce laws, usually based on suits, which gives parents and the children the commercial mentality. Think of the "abuse" busts all over the media.

It is illegal to leave marks, not illegal to spank your child. I believe if you leave a bruise you are probably going above the needed force for a spanking. It has to be documented more than once for this law to even be considered. Besides, there are more ways to discipline a child than spanking, and many are actually more effective.

I agree that the courts/government are getting out of hand in control, but that control is still limited by the people. The only thing we can do is take control back by controling our population, our children, and ourselves. Just my .
