*sigh*... no... they're not the same motor.

the 5.3liters is 327cid. Not exactly a LS1 which is 5.7liters or 350cid. It is scientifically impossible to be the same motor. If you're selling me Vortec motor parts for a 5.3liter GM V8... and Im asking for LS1 Parts... I'd probably throw a camshaft at your head.

It is physically Impossible for them to be the same Motor.

LS1 is an All Aluminum 6-Bolt Main, uses a composite (plastic) Intake manifold. Not mention the Block is half-an-inch shorter than a regular GM cast iron block.

Other Odd tid bits about the LS1:
The ignition hardware is mounted atop the valve covers. Each cylinder has its own coil and coil driver assembly and a short plug wire connects each a spark plug. The reasons for moving the coils to the covers are simple: 1) less spark energy is dissipated by short spark plug wires so more energy available at the plug, in fact, it increases nearly 100% and 2) shorter plug wires reduce radio frequency interference with on-board computers and the sound system. For the lazy: It means the LS1 runs a distributorless ignition.

And lets not for get Firing Order... Gone is the time-honored 1-8-4-3-6-5-7-2 sequence. This new engine fires 1-8-7-2-6-5-4-3. The cylinders are numbered the same: left bank: 1-3-5-7 and right bank: 2-4-6-8. The reason for the new firing order is better idle stability and less vibration.
For the lazy: It means its a totally new designed motor and cannot be a standard GM block.

Most notable is that this engine is the first two-valve V8 to reach the one-net-horsepower-per-cubic-inch plateau. That is a monumental engineering achievement.

Vortec GM V8 Motor Facts.

Standard GM 350 Castiron Block

The Vortec heads are totally different from that of the LS1. Just go look at the GM performance parts catalog. You need to order a seperate Intake Manifold to fit Vortec heads. There are zero interchangeable parts between the two motors.

I cant believe you're argueing the fact that the two motors are remotely similar. I mean for crying out loud. Just look at them.
