I love how most of us have the same sentiments - we like the old stuff, and hate (most of) the new stuff. Heck, at 22, most of the music I really like was written when I wasn't even born yet, so it's not like I'm an old guy hanging onto old stuff.

I understand how most people can perceive Country to sound alike, and it's true, most of it has a certain 'sound'. I admit that I wasn't too intrested until too long ago, but the music grows on you. Now, my station of choice is the Country one, next is Classic rock, and last is new crap.

Contrary to most people here though, I like a lot of rap, especially the West coast stuff (ie Dr. Dre). Good for cruisin' around

BTW, if anyone is interested, try downloading some stuff by "Sloan". They are an awesome band from East coast Canada (like me!), but their music has made it big all over Canada, not sure about the US. Really good songs include:

Money City Maniacs
Everything You've Done Wrong
Coax Me
The Good in Everyone

Canadian music rules the world!!

I think there is a lot of good new music out there, it's just way overplayed. That's why I only listen to the radio or watch Muchmusic (Canadian MTV) once a week to discover new music, but not get an overdose of it and have it ruined.

there's alotta good new underground hip hop.... i hate mainstream hip hop, most of it is complete garbage. Cash Money and most of the mainstream rappers suck, they don't rhyme, they do nothin special... all they do is talk about how much money they have, they are fuckin gay.
Jay-Z - izzo sucks too, i never liked that song, it doesn't flow at all.... Listen to Nas - H to the Izzo, M to the izzo (it spells HOMO) makin fun of Jay-Z

there were tons of good underground rappers with new CDs out last year, like Freddie Foxxx, Benefit, Atmosphere, Jay Dee, Binary Star, Cannibal Ox
and some 1/2 underground people, they're not really underground, but they're not really mainstream... like Mos Def, Talib Kweli and Common

plus i think Gang$tarr is commin out with a new CD soon, cause Guru and DJ Premier put out a new single like 6 months ago called the Revolutionist

Heeps right about Sloan - they are one band that I don't mind too much. I seen them live in London at an 'Out of the Blue' concert. Trebel Charger was there too. I would have had a better time if I had been able to drink, but it was my buddy who won the phone, and I had to drive home when he got drunk...

Hey Merc, what do you think of Matthew Good Band? For our American residents, they are another awesome Canadian rock band that shuns modern music trends and ends up pumping out some of the best rock in the world...

It's funny how after reading everyone's remarks about music this, and music that, you've all only really expressed your opinions about the music you listen to. Not that it's a bad thing, that's a good thing!(Geez, I sound like DDP )

What we have to realize is that ALL music nowadays doesn't carry the same weight as the music of yesterday. Granted, some of us were around at that time, but it just how things are. Today, it's about who can get the next hit out and make the most $$$$, period. So while you all have your favorites that you like, someone else will call them garbage. Bottom line is, music today has different meanings, senses to each and every one of you. I listen to all types of music, but mainly I'm a hip hop head. I like some things and others I don't care for. Music is music, love it or leave it I say.

DDP rules man!

I love the way they are going with his new gimmick, btw, Bubba's album isn't so Hot, I picked up DMX's new one yesterday, its hot. Bubba won't be un seating Em from his throne though, even though i prefer bubba over em anyday.
