Is that thing really functional in lowering drag? Reminds me of a Cosworth(except they have one that's not so subtle)

It looks pretty damn dope on Luke's car...question...how far does it come out from the window. I like the ones on the back of the BMW's...but I just don't want this thing to be huge.
