Re: Steering position sensor EVO

I found the sensor at O'Reilly auto parts under (strg sensor) item # 31025 or 6031025 it was right there on the shelf for 39.99. I called around and they said dealer would be the only way to get it. Not the case. Thank you all for saving me once again.

Re: Steering position sensor EVO

I have a 1999 Tahoe that has the symptoms of a faulty EVO steering sensor. However, I like the feeling of the fully boosted steering. Rather than replace the steering sensor, can I disconnect the wires to the variable orifice solenoid valve on the power steering pump so it defaults to full boost alll the time? Will this cause an ECU computer fault code or cause any other adverse reaction?

Thanks for any help.

I think it was only 97 and up. I am a little out of the loop, hopefully someone here can answer your question for sure.

The easiest way to tell is to look at the back side of the steering pump. If you have wires going there then you have the EVO system.

Re: Steering position sensor EVO

I found the sensor on Amazon for $39.

I just ordered it so I haven't verified fit.
