Re: 911 killa
I have massive respect for the performance figures put down by the GT-R, but it is ugly as sin. I would feel rediculous driving around town in one of those. As a racing car it should be fantastic, but I doubt it is as drivable as a 911. I also don't like that they aren't offering a manual transmission. Supposedly Nissan is also taking measures to make any tuning of the ECU nearly impossible.

Re: 911 killa
did anyone read that it has a rear transaxel like a corvette, and that for the front drive it basically has another drive shaft that goes all the way back up front. Strange, but who am I to argue, what other 3800 pound car posts such performance numbers.

Re: 911 killa
I think I have every magazine review on this thing, and I do like it. The thing that gets me is that its being passed off as some sort of performance bargain. I have seen prices quoted at anywhere between 70 and 85 grand. None would surprise me. I don't necessarily think its an outrageous price when considering the type of car, but those prices put it right there with z06s and Vipers. From the looks of it, if you spend 70-85 thousand than you are getting the same performance as a Z06 or Viper. Don't get me wrong, my head will certainly turn for this car, and I like it, but if I was spending 85 thousand on a sports car this car would not really stand out from the crowd in any measurable way. (by crowd I am talking about cars in its class)

then again, consider that MSRP is only a suggested retail price. i guarantee that dealerships are gonna jack that price up considerably once the GTR hits show rooms like what happened with STI's and Evo's when they came out. and as good as the reviews have been on the dual clutch auto tranny thing, i want a freakin' 6 (or 7) speed manual or at least the option to have one, which is where the American counterparts won't leave you hanging. it's a toss up, it all depends on what you're looking for for your near $100,000 investment. personally, i'd take any one of them in a heart beat.

Re: 911 killa
I don't think it's being called a 'sports-car' ... more like a GT car.
That way you can argue for the price, it doesn't have to seriously out perform cars like the Z06 and Viper. It's not in the same 'category'. That's how I perceive it.

Your facts aren't quite straight with all of that. The engine size does not directly correlate to fuel consumption. The GTR is estimated at 15/21 or 15/22 depending on the source, the Z06 is estimated at 16/26, and the Viper is estimated 11/19. The Vipers numbers are pretty low, and its taxed accordingly I am sure, but the Vette is not taxed as it is the first 500+ hp production car to avoid the tax. I would have to take issue on the interior only because I have not sat in a GTR to judge. I have only sat in the standard C6 as well, so I really can't judge the Z06 which I have heard is not completely the same on the inside either. Interior space I am sure would be better in the GTR if that is in fact an issue. As far as the inclement weather is concerned, I don't think anyone would be taking their 80000 dollar sports car (or touring car) out if they knew it was going to rain too hard. I don't think any of the mentioned cars here would let you sit in the rain, or be too dangerous to make it where you wanted to be. I am sure they are all equiped with dry tires so none will stop any better in the rain. AWD will afford more traction during hard acceleration, and hard cornering, neither of which I would be doing in bad conditions with these cars. Also, as the saying goes, this car might have four wheel drive, but they all have four wheel stop. Again, I am not ragging on this car at all. How could I not love a nissan that runs 11s from the factory? By the way did anyone see the shots of the navi/combination of readouts on this thing? That is pretty cool. They said that the Gran Turismo guy is the one they hired to make it all look nice and make sure all the menus are kosher.
