Does or has anyone or know anyone that has/had the gated shifter i've thought bout maybe picking it up a few times just to see what its like...
but then i though at the track i bet that would slow me down like no other...

i've not driven a 3s with a gated shifter, but it's gotta b the biggest drawback to ferrari's b4 they started installing paddle shifters. it slows the shift time by a lil bit, enough to make a difference. and yes i've driven a few ferrari's with that gate shiffter. it adds look and old school sportyness, and kinda hinders u from going into the wrong gear, but slows u down.

The gated shifter on the Ferrari's is meant to slow the shift down. They had horrible synchros and would eat transmissions for lunch. Hence the gated shifted came in.

As for the gated shifter for the 3s, I wouldnt waste my money.

as for ferrari, the gated shifters look nice...sure, but i'd rather shift a lil quicker in a sports car birthed for a track than look nice. hell the gated shifter made it a bitch to drive around the roads by me.

talking about the car looking cool. You know, when someone walks by your car, and kinda peeks in to check it out? you know their eye would gravitate right to that and think it's cool...lol.

dont get me wrong, im not out specifically to impress other people, nor do i give a shit what they think. but the truth is, if it DIDNT hinder the shift speed, i would get it. even if i was the last human on the planet and no one else would ever see it. I just like the look it gives. But like stealthee said, its not worth sacrificing performance to have it.

yea...but i've said it before, i don't drink a lot. i'm not a very nice person when i'm drunk. so just because i can drink doesn't mean i will every chance i get. i might have A beer on my 21st, but that's it.
