The price sounds almost too good to be true! Remember, buyer beware! Make sure you get the price in writing and that you have an understanding that you must approve any additional work before he does it. I can see a number of issues creaping up while the mechanic has it torn apart. You may want to have him flush the cooling system and replace the t-stat while he has it apart. Also a good idea to have the hoses replaced if they haven't been replaced recently. This will cost a few dollars more but it will be worth it in the long run!
