Re: WIP Tamiya Mclaren Mp4/4

I would have thought spraying the red first would have created all sorts of problems and the possibility of the white looking 'pink' However it looks ok in your pictures.Which red did you use?

Re: WIP Tamiya Mclaren Mp4/4

Hi Johnny looks good and you have done well with the non bleeding of the red. One comment, your red is not the fluro red and this may cause issues for you with the red decals when the time comes of not matching?

Re: WIP Tamiya Mclaren Mp4/4

I hate to tell you this but that Red is totally wrong. To properly paint this car you should have painted the entire body and wing end plates white and make it as smooth as possible then paint the red areas with Tamiya Spray TS-36 Flourescent Red. The Marlboro Mclaren Cars were always white and Flourescent Red(Not the red on a pack of Marlboros)

Nice work Johnny. Keep up the good work. Don't take offence at being told you have the wrong shade of red/orange... there are more important things to spend your money on when you are 14

I would have recommended that you use white primer and that you paint the red over a completely white body-work... however, your photographs show that your way works too... bravo!

Re: WIP Tamiya Mclaren Mp4/4

Good job so far.

you might want to wet sand the body with very fine grit sandpaper and/or apply some polishing compound to get rid of that orange peel. In the future you might want to wait longer before masking and doing that 2nd color of paint (enamel takes at least a couple of weeks to fully cure). That way you won't have that dimply effect on the red parts.
