A 30,000 yen model kit. Now that's one expensive model and detailed at that too. Looking great!

Very nice livery

What the heck is a "1K" clear? What does the "k" stand for?

I might be wrong, but the 2-Part clear is called "2k Clear", right?!

So this is a 1-part clear called "1k Clear"?!

That being said, I have seen Clear written as Klear in many instances. I dare not say it could be a European thing cause I am not aware if true. But Microsol has Kristal Klear, etc...

Seems like it would fit?!

Alex, where did you find those allusive valve stems?! I have been searching for well over a year for some of those! Have they become available once again?! Life's irony is great; I was looking into buying this kit tonight as I received the discount email from Steve. I think I need to find a way to scam $300 out of the misses, and then I can build it at any hotel I choose as I will be kicked out the second it arrives. Oh well,.........

Thanks - I got that far all on my own

I know that 2K aka 2-pack is a two part clear (I have a bell in the back of my memory that one of the first 2-part clear coats was called "2000" or something similar and hence maybe the transcription to 2K as in Y2K).

My point is what the heck is a "one part" clear??
What is so special about a 1K clear? What makes it different from TS-13 or Gunze Top Coat for example? (we don't we call them "1K" clears...or do we?)
I can't imagine a 1K clear being a pre-mix of a 2K clear because presumably it would harden in transit but maybe I am wrong?

I'm getting a whiff of "1k" marketing BS but I'd love to know what the real answer is opcorn:

Re: MFH Ferrari F40 GTE IGOL Monza 96

Well Steve I appreciated the hilarity but the misunderstanding start from me and my own idio(t)ms. 1K stand exactly for the rounds you'll do with the finger polishing: 999 and your model would be rough yet, 1001 and you'll expose the primer: just count and you'll have a "Alex standard" J/K.

The right name from the "other" Steve is just Lacquer Clear Coat. I thought is an acrilic coat with a very volatile thinner: it cure at touch in seconds (really). I found safe on decals and undercoats. Despite it cure very fast he's a bit sensitive to masking tapes so a couple days of curing should be sufficent to avoid some textures. I polished it at mirror shine after 15 mins from the application, but he lost a bit of glossy then. Used like you use a TS13 (times) is just great.

Sorry for the descent Alex, I'll stay sit now

That's an answer I can understand

Now, please leave the English language alone for a while!

wow The day I tried to mask with BMF ended up in mayhem, too thin and it cracked with the pain. Tour paint job is wonderful.
Keep going !

Klutz...I have some of the "1k clear" from Hiroboy, and it is a pre-thinned clear coat, just spray on a wet coat and that's it.

Maybe it isn't perfect, but very good IMHO.

Just to add my 2c to the 1K-2K-mystery...
In Germany the K stands for "Komponente" or component in english.
No mystery about it then for us:-)
