Re: WIP- Hasegawa 1/12 Mazda Efini RX-7

675datsun- the lines were done using Evergreen styrene rods, I'm pretty sure you can pick them up at a LHS. As for the fittings.... Tamiya tape lol, just cut to size and wrap it around. As for the bends, the model itself comes with a brochure of the car, so there are lots of in depth pictures, plus I have the factory service manual in pdf.

here are the updated turbochargers. I still need to do the actuators for each turbo, as well as their lines, along with the blow-off valve (stock, not aftermarket). Once that's done, I'll be moving on to more vacuum lines (most likely from the lower intake manifold to wherever, and I might try fabricating some sort of wiring harness, but will most likely just do what you can see and leave the rest out.

As you can see in the pictures, I made the flanges at the tips of the compressor housings, as well as the actual hole where all the air goes through, along with all the studs.

I also made the flanges for the turbo y-pipe, and drilling holes accordingly to fit on the turbos nice and snug.

Very nice. The turbo plumbing is very tidy and looks great. I could've done without the weathering in the engine bay, but if it's your style, no complaints; it looks good! The paintwork on the body is just immaculate. I'm terrified of having to spray down something so large! Great work.

Re: WIP- Hasegawa 1/12 Mazda Efini RX-7

You obviously have a good start.

But if you are getting this serious, The engine bay needs some work.

The real car has gaping holes in the metal where the plastic guard inners are.
They are black when you look at the engine bay.

If you need reference pics.

I have a real FD and thousands of photos.

Russ.

Lol, I was hoping you would see this thread, I checked out yahoo japan great reference pics. These hole your talking about, I'm not quite sure what your talking about. As you said, the engine bay needs work, and am well aware of it lol. I have a diagram on my computer which has all the vacuum and electrical lines on the upper and lower intake manifold, turbos, and other piping, and when I look at that and then look at the model, they really didn't try that hard at getting in-depth lol. But if you could take a picture of these holes I'd appreciate it. One more question, the actuators and bov on the turbos, which way are they facing?

Re: WIP- Hasegawa 1/12 Mazda Efini RX-7

body is basically finished, still need to do the guard inners:

And a nice shot of the gorgeous front fascia:

Not sure if you can notice it in the pics, but there is a small fitment issue with the hood. the small white piece in the engine bay is too thick and make the passenger side stick up a tad bit, but it will be fixed soon. Thanks for looking, comments and criticism welcome.

Re: WIP- Hasegawa 1/12 Mazda Efini RX-7

I never think of buying 1:12 scale kits but with seeing this build makes me want to build bigger. I'm imagining if only this in 1:8 scale. Wow!

Re: WIP- Hasegawa 1/12 Mazda Efini RX-7

a bit more work done, did some detailing on the bottom of the car, as well as detailing the exhaust:

A little bit of engine work, polished the upper intake manifold, and atarted the actuators for the turbos(all the of engine is jus sitting there for test fit):

Looks great. I love big scale kits with a lot of details.
