Re: WIP MFH Ferrari 248 China Version

Finally another update.
After hours of work to fill in the air vents they looked really really bad.
Not to mention on the real car they just dont fill in the vents not used.
The engine cowl is smooth and only the wanted vents are even present on the car.

So I decided to remove the pieces I didnt want by scribing very slowly with the back of a blade.

After this was removed I used plastic, CA glue and putty to fill in the holes and make it look correct.

Here are the results and I must say it looks so much better.

Thanks for looking.

Enjoy
Chris

Chris, if the piece you altered above was plastic rather than resin, do you think it would have been any easier? Just curious as I've never really had to do anything like this on resin before. Looking good by the way!

Re: WIP MFH Ferrari 248 China Version

Thanks guys.

Captain Mark - this resin is almost like working with plastic so it was very easy to do. There was nothing different about how i worked with this.

Body has been cleaned and is ready for the Ferrari Red.
I hope to shoot it this weekend.

Awesome kit, great build so far! hey, does it come with Marlboro decals or those have to be purchased separately from Tabu Designs or whatever?

Re: WIP MFH Ferrari 248 China Version

Wow it has been a really long time since I have been able to work on my kits.
I have made some good progress on this kit.

I have a goal to get this kit completed within the next 3 weeks so I should show some progress. If I don't post you guys can push me along!

Thanks for looking.

Re: WIP MFH Ferrari 248 China Version

I have made some good progress and will post pics soon but wanted some advice.
I just got Dupont 7779 s urethane clear and wanted to make sure it worked over decals before i shoot clear coat this kit with it.
Does anyone have any experience or advice working with this?

I always use Gunze spray Gloss clear (NOT the super-clear) and it is good. No problem with paint getting aggresive. After a couple of days it gets stone-hard.

Re: WIP MFH Ferrari 248 China Version

Well I answered all my questions through testing the stuff.
Best clear coat I have ever used.
Almost impossible to mess up because it flows so well.
I took apart a kit I had finished with the best range of decals (CF/Home Made/kit) took the clear parts out and after a wash and dry mixed up the first batch and man does it look good.
I left it for 10 minutes in the dehydrator and it was hard as a rock.
The body was put away for 72 hours and I will polish it out.
So with the lesson learned the Ferrari is going to get a clear coat tomorrow and pictures will follow.
