You do realize that posting a bunch of shit like this all the time makes you look like more of a noob than your post count dont you?

And what do you mean you dont want to be the guinea pig for a 16g setup? 16g's are easily one of the most common turbos around, there is no shortage of info on what this it is capable of.

All in all, this thread FTL. Unless anyone has anything useful to put into this thread, it needs to die.

Re: Turbo a 420A... I Want Your 2Cents

I agree with Thor. The 16g has got to be one of the most common upgrades for our cars. The websites rate the EVO3 16g at 380hp. The Big 16g at 350hp, and the rest considerably lower. Chances are unless that guy was running some insane boost, he wasn't even close to 400whp. I don't see the fact that having a 420A rather than a 4g63 makes any difference in the power output of the turbo, but more what the engine and fuel system are able to withstand. Also, he says he will throw in some 450's. Come on man 450's are a dime a dozen, and the first thing I switched out when I upgraded to a 16g. More importantly, is this 16g on the website even an MHI or some knock off. That is the biggest thing to look for.

Re: Turbo a 420A... I Want Your 2Cents

Great that's the kind of stuff I'm looking for. I bet there's a reason those 450s are new.

And also, I am building a track car. How quickly would a 16G spool with an exhaust dump and a .03 bore? Any ideas?

Re: Turbo a 420A... I Want Your 2Cents

I get 12 psi on my b16g at like 3100 or 3200 in 3rd gear. 2nd is a bit more than that and It has gotten as low as like 2800 in 5th gear.

Re: Turbo a 420A... I Want Your 2Cents

wow... ok after reading all the posts and getting cought up, i would have to agree... this is rather strange... however, if you want to buy it thats fine, the (my) 16g is great! (my intake temps are higher then i would like but...) it pulls hard, spools quick, and despite what everyone else said it holds boost really well without creeping... as for that turbo in the add on ebay, that doesnt look like a 16g to me... looks like a small 20g... but i dont know for sure... def. doesnt look like a 16g though... maybe the poster is confused... ask for the serial number off the turbo, you can find out EXACLY what it is that way.

Re: Turbo a 420A... I Want Your 2Cents

Keep in mind, they rate the turbos at 350hp-380hp however, you will not find many DSM running that power on a 16g. I would put the power band more in the 300-350hp for a typical 16G DSM.

real on an awd dyno.
gtech horsepower actually reads lower. it measures net horsepower it actually puts me in a 280 range.

Re: Turbo a 420A... I Want Your 2Cents

Damn. Nice numbers man. What psi are you running if you dont mind me asking? I'd be satisfied with that on the 16g but something tells me im nowhere near that. I definately need a professional tune and a dyno run to know for sure. It's just a matter of my lazy ass getting up and actually doing it.

Re: Turbo a 420A... I Want Your 2Cents

boost gauge reads 25psi dsmlink reads 24. Im pushing it about as hard as it will make i'm not getting any not with about 17 degrees timing advance.

Re: Turbo a 420A... I Want Your 2Cents

at this moment in time link says i'm making a comfortable 318 at 21 psi as you can see boost was on its way down.
Check out that intake and coolant temp good ole dam
also note minimal knock (blue line at bottom) which i have struggled with.
Let me just say iridiums < ngk bpr7es< br7es forget the projected plugs I am 100% convinced.

Re: Turbo a 420A... I Want Your 2Cents

Damn, I've been running at around 190 coolant temps without the air damn. 30 degrees? Does it really make that much of a difference? I've been meaning to rig somthing up but just havent gotten around to it. I'm running at 20-21 psi with about 14-15 degrees timing advance. So you would recommend irridiums over any other plug? I'm running the NGK BPR 7ES now.

Re: Turbo a 420A... I Want Your 2Cents

OOPS no other way br7es are the best. As for coolant temps no its not going to drop them 30 degrees it will drop your intake temps 30 degrees. 84 farenheit under the hood of a car is not bad at all
