Yep as centeral as you can get, Nebraska here. And of course we all know here that more displacement means its faster. ![]() SRT-4 is the biggest bang for the buck. Altima or maxima might not be a bad choice either if it is a newer one but they might be a little more spendy.

Re: Sporty fast racing-quality sedans
The 1980's BMW M12/13 Turbo 1.5l I4 is considered to be one of the greatest F1 engines of all time. 1,000+ hp, possibly as much as 1,500hp (they struggled with the dyno). This engine would still dominate the modern n/a 2.4l V8s or the older 3.0l V10s.

its funny how you asked how a WRX could keep up with those cars when stock for stock its the fastest car out of all those cars you listed. the car thats on my mind is the older Bi-Turbo Audi S4's seems to be a good choice if you can afford to maintain it.

Those S4's are damn nice, but hard to find with decent milage on them, most of the time they have about 70-80k miles on them, which in terms of VW/Audi it mean time for a major tune-up. Another option would be to grab an 03-04 VW jetta 1.8t. It's a compact sport sedan, turbo, great gas milage, rather light weight and they take to mods like crack. only thing is you need to be on top of matainance once they hit around 50k miles.

If you can swing 389 a month, you can lease a MB C300 Sport or BMW 328i Sedan.

No question, I would spring for an M5 even though it might be out of your price range.

Re: Sporty fast racing-quality sedans
Let's do a quick comparison:
My Twin Turbo 383=800HP at the wheels/950ft/lbs Cost=$4700 My Single Turbo Datsun L31=450HP at the wheels/375ft/lbs Cost=$6000 Now granted there were things that went wrong the L series and things I didn't need but the basic principle remains it's easier to make power with more cubic inch, which is why if I was you I'd opt for the Maxima, you get decent cubic inch and their not obscenly expensive. |

except for until he tries to find a turbo kit that will fit under that hood. The cost of a turbo or forced induction for any of those 6 cylinders are not cheap because they require some special engineering to make it fit. But yes you do have a point but there is definitly more to it than what you said.

Re: Sporty fast racing-quality sedans
So make it fit, I'm sorry but just because they don't make a kit that bolts right on is not an excuse. I guess I'm a little too old school, though, most hot rodders these days seem to give up if they can't find something that will just bolt on. I mean hell do you actually think I could have put together that 383 for $4700 if I bought one of the off the shelf twin setups? I've seen kits that cost that much. So after buying some cheapy headers I built my own setup. Granted not everyone can do that but I can guarntee you know somebody who can help.

Re: Sporty fast racing-quality sedans
Who said to grab a malibu ss earlier? Nah- spring for a Cobalt SS. 2.0L 4-banger with FI and 250hp stock. Real nice selection of mods for them right now, GMPP offering a few basic bolt-ons that don't even void your warranty. The 07's are going cheap right now, base price is around 17-20K depending where you shop. They'r gonna be rare too, since they aren't making an '08 model (engine doesn't met new emissions).
They're a chevy, so you know they ride smooth, and are nice and roomy on the inside. 2 door only though. They're hot cars, i'd have gotten one instead of my LS if i'd have been able to swing the payment. DON'T DO WHAT I DID! Don't settle for anything less than the SS. The other models and years come with the risk of getting a SAI, making them unmoddable. The '07 lower models lack any form of tuning at the moment, so turbo or massive HP gains are out of the question unless you wanna blow the engine.
