I have to say i'm very surprised to hear about a Nissan with poor build quality. If Japanese cars don't deliver good build, what else are they offering?

i think you should also throw in the new accord V6 into consideration. i wasn't too excited about the new ones myself, but they're beginning to grow on me. i was able to drive one around for a day last week and i have to say i'm quite impressed with the car, the overall feel from driving experience to the remarkably refined interior. i would question someone's common sense if they say the altima is a more refined car than the accord. although the altima 3.5 certainly feel quicker than the accord, definately torquier. but the altima feels bigger and bulkier. plus a few shoddy fit and finish issues compared to the accord i drove around. i would lease an altima, but i would ultimately buy an accord.

I would pick Mazda6s because it has a REALLY nice interior and a sporty exterior on top of handling and performance. It is also the least expensive of the three in the poll. The Ford Duratec v6 motors are nothing laugh at; they are basically Ford's counterparts of Nissan's VQ motors in terms of potential, engineering, and range of uses.

Altima 3.5L would be second place because it is too big of a car for me, and its interior and exterior stylings don't really do it for me either. The VQ is awesome... but the Altima isn't my cup of tea.

Camry... no comment.

del, what are the finish issues on the Altima? Maybe some cheap
looking plastics inside? Honda accords doors dont look much better.
I drove the accord also, and didnt like it. The 3.5
is a better engine than the accords. The 6 is ok, but it did have
some interior plastic on the back doors that didnt fit right.

The Duratec may be a nice engine, but it isnt anywhere near
the VQ.

Ford is a bit behind. The 3.5L Duratec won't be out for another year at least. I believe that the 3.5L Duratec can be competitive with the 3.5L VQ if Ford is willing to put some R&D on it. The 3.0L Duratec makes 232HP in the Lincoln LS... so it does have potential.

Does the US Market Mazda6 have a Duratec???? Do you get by any chance Mazda's mind-blowingly-awesome 2.3l I4????

US Mazda6 comes in 2 forms:
2.3L Duratec I4 (160HP)
3.0L Duratec v6 (220HP)

The only really high-performance Duratecs we get in the US are the 200HP 2.5L v6 in Contour SVT (Mondeo ST200) and the 240HP 3.0L v6 in the Jaguar S-Type.

I´ll go with the Mazda6, it´s the sportier of all. I don´t know why even mention the Camry, its nothing compared to this.
