Re: CassiesMan...

Those ideas are exactly what I was thinking. Intake wise, I was thinking about going with the Cobb intake. It would take an hour at most for me to do on my own, but me and my bud are planning on doing a couple of project days with our cars anyways. That, and the service advisor that I spoke with while waiting to get all my paper work printed up told me that they are seeing pretty big boost spikes with other aftermarket exhausts.

yeah , but the thing you need to check out are if the exhaust is a turbo back or cat back, obviously the turbo back will give you more power due to eliminating the cat, the problem I see is that mazda ecu's are very picky about their exhausts as they will throw a CEL on you and mazda will definately void the warranty because of that, been done numerous times with the RX-8, also so far, no one has been able to fool the ecu to get rid of that CEL, I would wait a bit before getting a Turboback because Cobb said once they are done working with the reflash for the Supercharger for the RX-8 they are going to work more with reflashing the ECU for the speed6 and speed3. As of right now their reflash is only available for stock, intake, and catback exhaust.

oh and little more info on the shocks and springs, Eiboch, tein, and etc. stiffen the suspension by about 20-30% so its a big difference as opposed to the MS set up. And also my opinion is that the MS3 has plenty of power as it is, It needs some upgrades to the suspension before you upgrade the power, as good as the stock suspension is though the current power is pushing the limits of the suspension already.

need shots of the whole car and interior shots. glad you like it, i'm not too thrilled with mazda's FSI system, doesn't seem to work as well as the audi's.

Re: CassiesMan...

Nice choice going with Mazda.
you gonna race it hard? Seems it's a luxury car, so if you want to make her fast you're gonna need to put Sophie on some serious slim-fast!
People are starting to catch on to stock-FI. It's a good thing, but it's killing a generation in my opinion. It used to be that only the hard-core guys had FI. Sure, that was my dad's era, but it all seemed better back then

Re: CassiesMan...

I think in your dad's era FI meant "Fuel Injection" not "Forced Induction."

Actually, not that heavy at all. Just a kick over 3000, 3153 according to Yahoo Autos. Laps Laguna Seca a half second faster than an S2K, according to a good budy of mine. The only wieght loss it'll get might be some new wheels, I'm staying away from all that carbon fiber this and that crap, and keeping the interior stock. Well, stockish. Rice or not, I want a boost gauge and an A/F Gauge at the least. At the RX7club meet I went to last night, everyone said for safety and nothing else, at least get a boost gauge.

Also, just rolled over the 1k mark last night, so times up for some running. Looking to try and set something up with a stock 350Z and SRT-4 to get some good baseline feeling of the car, and after a project day with my buddies IS300, we're gonna run.

At this point, plans are in for an intake in the near future. Maybe a month or so, need to save up a bit more before I can start picking up mods. My hope is that I'll get some Christmas cash for either the Mazdaspeed or Corksport exhaust or the Forge BOV (set up for recirc, duh). Then I'll start looking for seeing what the ECU market has to offer, then wheels and some suspension bits from Mazdaspeed or Cobb. By about that time, I should be up for my company car. After that, its serious project time.

You could easily take the srt by a car or so, if you race a new 350 it might be a neck and neck race seeing as how their gear ratio is alot better and they require 1 less shift than you do down a 1/4.

Also don't buy an intake, the way mazda designs their intake systems are actually better than some of the other intakes out there and you will be wasting alot of money. Example - The K&N intake system actually makes you loose power in the RX-8. Save the 200-300 and get a mazdaspeed exhaust, they sound beautiful and you get some nice gains. Also Cobb as I said before, cobb is working on their reflash for the MS3after the finish the rx-8 supercharged reflash which is almost complete.

Easily take an srt-4? With a good driver its a 13 second car, which seems to be the case with the MS3. Best I've seen for the skittle was a 13.7, can't say the same for Mazda, but it is alot newer.

Re: CassiesMan...

Well, until I figure out the whole launching thing and getting used to a stick launch with power over the launch in the BMW, I'm looking at doing roll races with the 350Z and the Sarty. That is, of course, assuming I can find a stock Sarty.

I'm getting the Mazdaspeed intake only based on the fact I have someone willing to sell me one at 20% of price with no shipping. Gotta love friends of friends really. And all dyno charts I've seen show the Speed3 gains a realistic bit o' power at the wheels with the intake. I need to hear a Speed3 with the MS Exhaust before I make my final call. For now, the exhaust will just be a cat back till I get the company car, then I'm doing one of two things.

Re: CassiesMan...

SRT-4s are not 13 second cars!
why is it that if one or two cars run a 13.998 all of a sudden it is a 13 second car?
No, ERRRRR, Wrong. There are a few factory freaks, yes and there are people like me who will cheat and run a sock looking SRT-4 on drag radials with the boost spiked and run a 13.7 and then when people ask I tell them its "Stock" and so everyone buys it. Fact is the SRT-4 is statistically a 14.5-14.0 second car.
If we where to run every single SRT-4 ever made stock and add up the numbers and dividethem by the amount of cars we ran the end average would be around 14.2 or so. so stop saying SRT-4s are 13 second car, thats just racist......YES! RACIST!

and I have seen stock MS3s run 13.8, that dossent mean they all run 13.8 stock either.
