all production street bikes are governed at 300 Km/hr which is like 180-something. it's sort of like a gentlemens agreement for bikes.

In what kind of race? A stock Busa runs 9's. A 600bhp Supra does not.

A bike can only run nines when you have someone who can launch them. Your average, everyday rider will most likely pull something in the tens, like Mushi when he first took the Goat to the track and ran a 15 something. And I think roll, the magazine article I was reading didn't specify, just said that this guy's Supra was capable of it. I don't ride, so I don't know. I'd like to, but I need a new car first, then apartment, then I can start worrying about bikes.

Guy I used to work with back at the BMW dealership had an R1 with some work done to it (Exhaust, think he said headers, filter, tune) and said that he had pulled pretty good on an I/LTH/E/Tuned C5 Z06, but that a pretty well done FD put the whuping on him real good. Most likely one of the three rotor turbos we got floating around the area. Also said that a last gen Camaro Z28 raped him pretty bad once.

Yeah, but I'm sure it wouldn't be to hard to get going that much faster sans governor. The E60 M5 can do 185/190 stock once you pull the governor.

Re: It's embarassing when...

I am still trying to decide on the Triumph or the R6 myself. I have decided I am gonna do 6 months of bootcamp on a ninja 250 first though. Hopefully 6 months won't turn into 6 days.

technically, they can. The early busa models all go 200mph+ But these days the bike manufacturers have a "gentlemans agreement" to limit it somewhere below 200. Reasons being very obvious... You crash at 200mph in a car and there is a very minute chance you'll survive, Crash a bike at that speeds and they'll be scraping whats left of you off the streets

Re: It's embarassing when...

So...you were surprised that your bike killed a 3,500 lb car from a slow roll to only under 100???

I love it when the price difference stuff is brought up, makes me chuckle a bit.
He probablly immediately shipped his car to Evolution MS in Tempe,AZ to make sure THAT never happens again. And unless you snail that bike....it wouldn't.

THAT said, VERY nice bike, sir. Keep hunting and be safe out there.

True, but with advances in modern science, and his outragous income, its not to hard to think he'll at least live to two, maybe three hundred.

Yeah that very well could be. Car would definately want to take him from a high speed race or just hope he was a really bad drive because the R1 modded would easily be into 9's as well if the rider could drive the thing. I think I'll just stick with my personal favorite, the smart car with a busa motor

Not surprised, I knew what the out come would be if it were a true quarter mile race. Doesn't take a rocket scientist to figure out. But one still has to consider that, the 997 Turbo is one hell of a car.

By far one of the most practical 'supercars' around. Not to mention just gorgeous.

I just merely wanted to play and see how it felt to really get on the throttle with the bike. Was in the middle of my break in period and I'd been babying it... plus the guy was kind of a prick the way he was jutting in and out of traffic. Albeit the damn Porsche sounded awesome doing it...

Now the bike is a bit faster... and louder. Got me a slip on Jardine exhaust, soon when I get the time, I'll get on down to the dealership and get a ECU retune to take full advantage of it. Good times.
