As for the 420A yeah Im quite sure he'd be willing to let it go for a very reasonable price.

anyone happen to have a link to an online factory service manual for the evo? need to get wiring schematics for the under hood fuse box.
I think a month ago I did post a link for online repair automible, I cant search right now.

Re: 97 Eclipse gs Evo V// swap

Axles are at the shop. they are remachining the shafts for the correct splines. we are cutting down and machining the longer 420a axles to accept the evo inner joints. Unfortunately he said he couldnt get to it until atleast next week. During this time I will be working on the wiring though to see if I can get it started. Ill also machine the plate for the back of the transmission.

Re: 97 Eclipse gs Evo V// swap

Custom axles FINALLY done. it only took about 6 weeks the last 3 of which were me calling him twice a week to get them done. basically we had 2 eclipse gs passenger side axles machined to the evo shaft length and splined to accept the evo inner joint. Pics and progress to follow this week. we will finally be able to align the motor into its final resting place in the engine bay. we will be moving the motor about 3/4" to the drivers side to more closely match the evo alignment under the hood, and to give us some needed clearance between the pullys and the body on the passenger side.

were actually going to be using the talon TSI rear components but yeah its the same thing. we need to get it moving fwd first though unless he gets a 3rd car for a daily driver. hes driving the tsi while we do all the mounting of the motor, rigging of the transmission cable bracket, customization of the axles, and wiring. after the car id driveable we will strip all the components from the tsi and then finally we will do the awd conversion on the gs.

Re: 97 Eclipse gs Evo V// swap

Axles. basically we have 2 420a passenger side axles cut and machined to evo length and to accept the evo inner joints. $75 for the machining, $40 for the extra passenger side axle from the scrap yard, $300 for evo axles.

One other bonus is that the stock evo axles are machined in a few places between the joints to be thinner than stock gs axles, but flare back out to the splines. Why? I dont know. But by using machined gs axles we have thicker than stock evo axles and technically that should result in stronger front axles (assuming the shaft material is the same).

Re: 97 Eclipse gs Evo V// swap

its certainly one step closer. We will have the axles in and have the measurements for the final placement of the motor tomorrow. More pictures to come later this week once we have a little more progress.

Re: 97 Eclipse gs Evo V// swap

updates

so weve got the motor centered and weve designed the new motor mount brackets. We need to get them machined now and get them welded into the car. after that comes wiring :-/

after designing them we cut them out on cardboard to make sure they fit right.

the front portion of this bracket will be changed to be level with the top of the rear portion.
