Re: Building credit

I was looking into buying a place this past year so I did a bunch of research on credit scores. Check out this site. It was most useful.

http://money.howstuffworks.com/credit-score.htm

A lot of it seems to depend on having various lines of credit and making timely payments. I have a pretty good score and I've got $125k in student loans, a car loan, and 2 cards and I always make payments on time.

The one thing I didn't get is my credit score, after paying $12.95 you get to view your report but you don't get your score...you have to pay more money for that. I am actually disappointed that I didn't get what I thought I was getting especially since the info they gave me was not worth the $12.95.
Why didn't you go and get your government mandated FREE report from all 3 bureaus? Did you access them within the past year? You can get a copy of all 3 bureau reports once a year by going here:https://www.annualcreditreport.com/cra/index.jsp
