Re: vr-4 transmission...

gas milage isn't an issue. i was just wondering what everyone here thought in their opinions. this taller fifth gear i didn't know about though.

i was just wondering if by luck i ever came by one, would it be worth it to put on.

what aren't you sure about on the taller 5th gear?

its a simple bolt on upgrade. it replaces the stock 5th gear. they make 3 sizes: 8%, 16%, 25% but the latter requires machining of the shift fork so its not really bolt-on. the 16% taller 5th gear will reduce rpms in 5th gear by 16%. its as simple as that. and it will also give you a theoretically higher top speed...of course, you'll need the extra power to reach that speed.

www.teamrip.com sells them. just email and ask about em. i have one in my trans. love it. definitely worth the $300, and much cheaper and more cost effective than the $2,000 you'll spend getting an AWD 6 spd trans to work in a FWD car.
