Re: i'm a lil confused

Insurance per cylinder ~ V10 < Rotary = 3 cylinders

No, I mean't more in a good way I guess I should have put...

Insurance per cylinder ~ V10 > Rotary = 3 cylinders

Insurance writes it off as a 3 banger

Re: i'm a lil confused

that "insurance" crap is one of the things that kept me from getting an RX-7. I had a hunch that it would only be written in as a 3banger, but that if they ran the make and model and found the HP, they'd charge me out the butt.
My question is: does the engine really need a total rebuild every 80K?! Is that regular driving conditions or flat-out racing? And how much does that cost yuo?
I want one of these so bad right now, but i don't think i could afford to maintain it

Re: i'm a lil confused

you don't need rebuilds every 80k regardless of year of the car as long as you treat it right

and even when you do need a rebuild it isn't that bad, most experience engine builders can finish in less than a day.

I agree, Rebuilds aren't bad as long as you know what your doing. Also you can improve the life of your engine if you install ceramic seals even though there alot more money. If you pay the right price up front you won't pay much in the long run but if you buy someone else headache you'll wish you were never born and I seriously mean that.

To be honest if your not willing to pay to play the seven isn't for you. I love mine and wouldn't trade it for anything. I get some of the craziests looks and tons of respect it really is a gorgeous car as well as fast as all hell (single turbo'd FD 's you better have a jesus peice with you).

heh, I love single'd FD's so much. A nice big trim like a 40R+ feels like a punch in the face when full boost hits

Re: i'm a lil confused

HEY! I read that already. It just says that the rebuilds are quick, but might have a waiting list. I just wanna know what the average $$ cost is.
I'm willing to "pay to play" but I want to do more playing than paying. I really have no other hobbies than my car- right now I'm tuning up an 07 Cobalt but am itching for something rarer/faster/RWD!
Otherwise I'll just get an Eclipse and toy with that. But trust me- it's no RX-7 in my book...

Rebuilds range for the FD from 3000 for a base all the way to 6 or even 8k dending if you want new housing and what porting is done as well as what rotors you want.

Re: i'm a lil confused

That's not too bad really, considering the kind of mileage you put on a car like that. My mom hard-drove the family minivan for 9years and only put 160k on it. So you think, sock away about $1,500 per year, you'll be just fine. I can swing that and have cash to spare.
