Thanks all for your kind words and encouragements.

Here is how I processed to open the scoop:

- I traced the scoop limit with a pen
- I drilled holes inside this limit
- I cut through the holes following the traced limit with a scalpel
- I sanded the cut edges

here is a picture with the help of my brother showing how I sanded the round side of the scoop:

For the moment the scoop (plastic card part) is only placed to get the size and shape of the part which will take place above and under it.
I put a small drop of glue on it and put it in place.

It's really harder to build than what I tought, because both sides have to be exactly similarly shaped, and moreover they will have to fit the inside part of the car.
Here is how it looks for the moment:

Thanks for your comments and questions, it's a pleasure to share about my project.

The only reason i want to buy a Mustang is to do something like this. I was kind of thinking an LM edition soon. What I like about yours is that you are doing it even if the picture is way radical. This is going to be a nice looking pony car. opcorn:

Be careful about having the side vent stick out too far. Mine originally interfered with the cabin parts and I had to scale it back.

Keep it up! I'll post progress soon in mine. (I sound like a broken record, no?)

Thanks for the advice, I noticed that too and it's precisely the reason why that part of my build is very time consuming... I want the perfect part, the perfect fit, the perfect shape...
BTW I've already rebuilt one side's scoop

It's the first time I open airvents in a body sides. It's harder than what I thought, and I will think about it for the rear of the car where other airvents would normaly have to be opened following my first idea...

Such modifications really have to be perfect not to damage the body or to compromise the result. that needs time and several tries, but for the moment it's going well.

I can't wait finding the new update of your project !

That could be a while...

I'm somewhat worn out from all the putty, expoxy, primer, putty, primer, sand, primer, sand, primer.... And that damn side airvent...

Plus I got distracted by a Cobra 427.

Looks good. My side vent went pretty much up to the door and followed the contour of the door. I like how clean it has ended up. Mine required a T O N of Bondo!

This car has more gills and scoops than a Saleen S7, it looks like. The concept picture is not my style, but I can appreciate excellent craftsmanship when I see it. Keep up your high standard of work.

Re: WIP: Mustang projects crossed builds: Mustang GT "Xtreme-R" concept

Hello,

thanks for your words deltableh

the new update is here:

I finished the side air vents, they are now glued, puttied and sanded, here is the result:

I have also filled the holes for rear wing fit by placing a piece of plastic card under them and filling them with putty:

That's all for the moment

Are you planning on filling the 3rd brake light as well?

How did you sand the side gills? I'm having a hard time smoothing that surface out. Looks good so far!

Re: WIP: Mustang projects crossed builds: Mustang GT "Xtreme-R" concept

looking good. For a quicker fix for round holes you can try to find an appropriate sized piece of sprue or plastic rod and glue it in place and sand it down. thats how I filled those holes on my most recent mustang build

Hi,

I am using the technique white97ex described, too, works great, (nearly) no putty necessary.

Well, looks like a lot of work to do. I cannot really imagine, how the model will turn out, looking at the comic-style sketch, but your progress looks good.
