Thanks for all of your help guys. I learned a lot! With that said, here's what we bought today:

2003 2.2 Ecotec with 71,000 miles. It has hunter green metallic paint and doesn't have a lot of options, but with the low mileage, will hopefully be a good car for a college kid.

My 99 cav - 59,550 miles
my 03 Cruiser - 42,500 miles ( DD)

if he takes care of it then it should last him a good deal of time.

lol I consider that low too. However, your mileage is REALLY low to me. lol Low/high mileage must differ where ya live. When I bought my Z it had 83k and I thought that was relatively low

I bought my Sunfire with high miles on it. It was a good deal so I got it. I added about 2,500 miles onto myself already and its still riding strong. But then again, I keep up with maintenance.

Well, compared to what we were looking at in a Z24 (115,000 - 138,000 miles), 71,000 is relatively low mileage.

Im 17 and this is what i have, i spent about $3000 into the car for mods and repairs already, and im going to spend another $1500 by the end of this summer. But i have a good paying job so i dont have to worry about spending money. Your son will love his car, which is performance-wise same as my car.

damn 71k seems way high to me. i pretty much have same car, save the paint, and i only have 45k. then again i drive hardly anywhere and my car is parked for 9 months outa the year at college. i love my car though and im sure ur son will also. only major problem i have had was the o2 sensor went out, if u could actually call that a major problem. 50 bux for the part and 0 to install it myself.....

Thats 14K and 3/4 a yr. I wouldn't call that exactly low but I've seen worse. It's right at average to above average but hey its not my mo...biiilleeee
