Re: Revell Audi R10 TDI: Box content

First, I like Revell's deep panel lines, just as long at they aren't too soft on the edges. It allows a little more flexibility in paint levels and you don't really have to do panel lines. Sometimes Tamiya's panel lines are too faint (e.g. rear bumper of SLK kit).

Second, I don't like Revell's decals. They do not hold up to Lacquer clear coats.

only one thing left.. build it build it build it... I always wanted a protoype, but never could spend the money on a resinkit, so I'm defenatly interrested in this car.

Re: Revell Audi R10 TDI: Box content

Hi,

thanks for the photos, Julian.

Well, body doesn´t look bad, but these wheels let me rise my eyebrows: Paint them brown and you can use them for a horse-drawn carriage . The spokes should be much thinner and more defined, thicker at the hub, thinner at the end where the hit the rubber.

Further concerning the engine: yes, not bad, but the air-filters , that take a dominant space in the rear of the car, seem to be missing.

The decals are for the 2006 Le Mans cars. Does anyone know if Revell USA will be releasing an ALMS version, like with the Corvettes ?

Just ordered mine too.It looks quite good for the price. I wish a test version conversion decals would appear.it looks good in black.
I wonder how the engine will look when finished...
But they should try to get some injection points smaller...

Re: Revell Audi R10 TDI: Box content

Hi,

I wrote a mail to Revell Germany concerning the thick spokes and the missing air-filters. Here their answer:

"Sehr geehrter Herr Schneider,

here my free translation:

Because of technical reasons Revell is not able to make thinner spokes, otherwise they wouldn´t get out of the mold.

Air filters are not included, because when beginning the development of the kit no infos about them were available, but the engine is exact and the rest of the model is accurate.

There won´t be a 2007 issue (were new wheels and missing airfilters could be added).

Just to remember: 1,5 years ago with the Ferrari 612 they wanted to make a step to reach the level of Japanese kits.

To be exact, he wrote there won´t be a 2007 issue with corrected wheels and included airfilters, because those changes would have taken too much time to release it before 2008.
There´s still hope...

I'm curious. Why do you need/want 4?

Re: Revell Audi R10 TDI: Box content

I didn't notice the wheels were different.really?
Checked mine yesterday.Floor is a bit warped, injection points big, nice decals but with excess, nice carbon pattern, nice wheels, ugly brakediscs, gap with the front and rear body part, fitment a bit hazardous but hey....18 euros...

Looks nice, saw a picture on Hlj. THanks for sharing the close up pictures. I'll be sure to get a few once I find some good deals. These 1/24 Lemans are not common in plastic, (especially the LMPs).
