I bet if you really put some serious work into one you could run some pretty good power out of it.

I know the Transformers movie is going to be released on July 4th Starring the new Camaro as the main character "Bumble Bee" which was a Volkswagen Beetle in the cartoon series. Does this mean the new Camaro will be released around this time.

I was also wondering, Why even make a V6 camaro? It seems stupid.

Wow... you're still in high-school aren't you?

More food for thought,

If we're going to hype about a true sports car being like a Corvette, let's not forget, THE first 'vette, was a 4 banger that Harley Earl designed for looks

Re: When is the new 2008 camaro going to be available for sale?

Ah yes, but keep in mind this camaro not only has to compete with mustang like the 80-00's, but will have to compete with the new challenger which will also have a v6, the 6.1l hemi (425 hp), and possibly a 500 hp 392 ci motor to compete with the cobra. So I hope they build a camaro with at least 500 hp (LS7?), probably priced between $45-$55k. And the way that the vette's horsepower (and pricetag) has been soaring in the past year, I dont think they'd run into trouble of undercutting themselves.

A V6 RS Camaro was a great idea for F-body.
Camaros have had a v6 ever since 1967. its nothin new.

Re: When is the new 2008 camaro going to be available for sale?

talked with the gm guys at the gm nats and they said they were not conferming any info about engines or option packages at this time. they did however say that you could go to the dealer ship soon and ask to be put on a waiting list. when the dealers start taking orders, you'll be the first in line. production will start mid to late 2008.

Re: When is the new 2008 camaro going to be available for sale?

Well Im pretty sure the v8's are gunna have that cylinder shut down thing where the engine only runs on four cylinders at cruising speed. I heard somewhere in the ballpark of an average of 25mph..thats what alot of v6's are getting now. However the v6 will probly get around 35..correct me if im wrong about any of this.

fuel efficiency is up to the driver. Displacement on demand will help, but it still depends on how you drive it.

Re: When is the new 2008 camaro going to be available for sale?

I heard that GM hasn't worked out all the kinks with their Displacement on Demand stuff. I would prefer not to have it. People who had it with their SUV's said that it would only shut down the cylinders for a matter of seconds, then kick back on while on the highway. It didn't do much in the way of fuel efficiency.

And if the new camaro got the LS7, it wouldn't have a price of $45K-$55K. That's vette territory right there. I would think the top model would go for low-to-mid $30's, depending on options.

If the new Camaro is going to be sold in late '08 or early '09, when do you think dealerships will allow potential buyers to place themselves on a waiting list?

gm said later this year you should be able to get on a waiting list but to keep checking in with the dealer.

Re: When is the new 2008 camaro going to be available for sale?

if anything, im sure they'd have two V6, and at least 2 v8's... one low perf. v6, a median between the v6 and 8, the 'normal' v8, and like the cobra, one supercharged/turbocharged or big disp. V8.

it would be sweet if they offered a high pro v8 with rear seats/ac/radio/ etc delete!

No, the early ones were in line 6's. The V's didn't come 'till much later.

Re: When is the new 2008 camaro going to be available for sale?

Don't count on an LS-7 for the Camaro's. The LS-7's are all hand built which adds greatly to the price and takes quite bit of time. Also, GM wouldn't be able to produce them in the numbers that are going to be ordered.
