I've been a glasses wearer for 20 years now, and I need them all the time. I can't read a book past arm length, let alone drive without them!

I'm with you on this, taranaki - as soon as I get up in the morning I put them on, and they don't come off again until I get back into bed.

And for the clip-on wearers out there - prescription sunglasses are an absolute godsend You can see where you're going on a sunny day without looking ... ahem ... uncool

Contacts are even better!
Then you can take your dark glasses off indoors, and not have to worry about carrying another pair to put on.

Unless of course you can't wear contacts due to very VERY bad eyesight, then prescription sunnys are damn good.

I was told I had a stigmatism that was too bad to allow me to wear contacts ... I think it also buggers up my chances of having laser treatment, not that I could afford it anyway.

Has anyone at AF been brave/rich/foolish enough to try laser treatment?

Wear glasses, hate contacts! I spend to much time mucking around with cars. Small grain of dust feels like a boulder in your eye.

Panda's tend to be short sighted!!!

Thats why I have both.
Contacts for going out, uni, weekends etc.
And glasses for drving the truck and fixing cars etc.
Get some plastic len's and there better than safety glasses.
Get some with a warrenty and its even better, free scratch repair.

How long ago were you told this?? I have astigmatism in both eyes, and I can wear "toric" lenses to correct my vision. I've had them for about 5 years. The latest round of toric lenses are supposed to be good for a bigger range of astigmatisms.

I've had glasses since I was 13 and contacts on and off since I was 15. I don't legally need anything to drive, but I feel significantly safer with something. I'm also slightly myopic in my right eye. I'm often too lazy to put in contacts when I have the money to buy them. Toric contacts are usually double normal lenses where as glasses aren't as bad...

I have astigmatism in both eyes, left worse than right. I have contacts no problems? Maybe has to be hard contacts (like mine).
