I get them ALL from work for free, Import Tuner and Super Street seem to be geared toward the 14-17 y/o crowd whereas Sport Compact Car is more of a gear-head pub. They do some impressive step-by-step tech articles and the cars are of a higher caliber. I leave IT and SS in the dumpster at the end of the month!

Super Street DOES cover some nice JDM cars (Signal Auto Skyline etc., although they're accompanied by useless articles), but they also have a very high rice content. i, personally, wouldn't wipe my ass with Import Tuner. it's garbage. Sport Compact Car is without a doubt the best American-written Import car magazine. they do more articles on PERFORMANCE vehicles, like the God-of-all-cars C-West RX-7, whereas Import Tuner does articles on show vehicles, most of them Civics and Integras (think Revell Civics and you've got the picture). i personally don't want to read about a bunch of Civics with ugly body kits, huge sounds systems and the only thing done to the engine is Nos. if you're like me, then go Sport Compact Car. if you're looking for PURE JDM car (C-West, Bomex, Signal, drifting etc) stuff, go with the japanese mags, like Option and Option2. only 2 catches with these: a)they're written entirely in Japanese, so reading up on the feature cars is useless; and b)it's expensive for a subscription when you're not in Japan. but hey, in the long run, it's totally up to you. i completely agree with you on the Max Power though...who wants to see a Citroen with a Veilside rip-off body kit? only reason i buy it is for the Max Power babes. lol. hope this helps some!

Sports compact car is my fav of the ones mentioned. I have a Subscription to Import tuner. im not going to renew it. they have a girl on the cover every issue. they used to be beautiful women. now they are just weird looking girls that ruin a perfectly good picture of a hooked up car. my 2 cents

Looks like the general consensus is with SCC.

For all the Australian modelers, there is a magazine called Australian Models and Hobbies. Although it isn't really for custom cars, there is some good reviews of kits and shows.

if you are looking for body kits and things to replicate, Option mag is really the way to go. But SCC is the choice if you are looking toward american mags. of course, SCC has nothing on Option.
