Cbass, u're the one who started whoring in this post. THere's not ONE reply that is anything close to a solution to the guy's problem. So why don't you stop whining about "double troll posting" <--- cause i've already stated u're making shit up in my last post, and also your whining about closing this post, and help the guy come up with a answer?

I wasn't trying to whore, I was under the impression this was a helly troll, which the moderator says it wasn't.

He refers to reverse as a weak gear, and since he was redlining it, that would indicate he means weak as in, short.

If it's a long driveway, and you're revving that high going backwards, you would probably overheat your engine, as you described. I can't see how it would be your clutch, unless it was already near the end of it's life and slipping badly. In that case, I think you would have really noticed the slippage.

I think the most likely scenario here is that you overheated your engine, sprung a coolant leak and sprayed it onto the exhaust manifold. This would make volumous clouds of white smoke, and probably wouldn't smell too good, depending on how old your coolant is...

As for my previous post, I apologize for my bluffage, this really seemed like a troll...

Well, generally a clutch starts slipping, then starts burning. It would feel just like the tires were slipping, with the engine revs raising even though the speed isn't... I was with my friend in his car when he killed his clutch(orginal clutch in a ford tempo), and it just started slipping... had to drive really smoothly(which for him was a challenge ).

If your clutch started slipping then, it'll probably act up again soon.

Well, I was looking at your thread seriously until I read that. I happen to be a fan of imports, but I am an even bigger fan of good old classic muscle. What an ignorant comment, if you want peoples help do go out trying to offend people because you might piss off the one person that can help you.
