It´s well possible to get 200hp (NA) out of a Civic VTi but it costs a lot of money. Personally I don´t believe that it has got 200hp because it´s a too cheap copy IMO.
Maybe he has done it like this:

base Civic VTi 160hp
Hot-Air-Intake + 15hp
Exhaust + 10hp
Header + 15hp
=200hp

Well as for the car- Ive nearly this car but a newer version (facelift).

As for the Speed- the 1.8VTi is everything but not slow If I remember right- it needs about 7.8secs 0-100 (honda data) and it even has the highest topspeed (excluding the CTR) of the civic models!

As for the styling kits: Ive several adresses but theyre all in german but ill give this on wich is in english:

this bodykit looks IMO hot and Ill get the side fenders (?) and the rear!

So you know that the 1.8 VTi is fast?? How much does it weigh??
How about the 1.6 version is that a VTEC-E also?

Well the 1.8VTi isnt as fast as a 1.6VTi but it is fast and according to top speed it is simply unbeatable

Well theres one version of it with SOHC non VTEC- this is the 1.6 performing 115hp@6200 and the one ive got with SOHC VTEC-Lev (second gen vtec-e having the ability to save fuel in the lower rpms and to produce some power in the higher rpms)performing 115hp@6500rpm- this is the 1.5 version.

If u have both stock, the 1.6 is faster than the 1.5 although theyve got the same hp readings. But this is easy fixable The VTEC in the 1.5 is just for the fuel cons system- ive addad a vtec controller and set the activation point to about 1200rpm and now im as fast as the 1.6 and ive got (if i want it) still a very low fuel consumption. Add a header and a AEM cai to the 1.5 and the vtec controller and uve faster than the 1.6 and u still dont need fuel

The 1.6 and the 1.5 weight about 1100.


The question now is waht do u need-
if u need power- I would go for the 1.8 VTi, if u need some power and and dont worrie about fuel costs the I would choose the 1.6, but if u need some power and dont want to pay alot for fuel go for the 1.5.

According to Honda there isn't a civic typeR(that is what the VTi is for) until 99(found this out when trying to get a shiftknob((civic 99+ typeR 6 speed,i got the accord typeR 5 speed))As for the VTi it most certainly is NOT a slow car w/160hp more like 185 for that gen.b18c4 stock the stickers on that car are for show.As for the original pitur posted isn't that a 4th gen. Pretty sure b16a1 was the best they put in it.As far as bodykits try schneider motorsports or TSS tuning.

Those weren't the original pics. I think civic_1.6_16v uploaded pics under the same location as the previous ones, and since the link on this board is still linked 2 that location, you now get the new pics...

Their was definately a pré 99 type-R. I think production of the Type-R's started somewhere in '97. If you start looking for Civic Type-R pics, you'll see they (the 6the gen) come with 2 different front bumpers, the euro front bumper model '96-'98 without the molding (same as US bumper) and the ('99-'01) model with the airvent/foglights next to the central air intake...

Interesting,They guys at Honda were very sure that there wasn't one(a civic,I know there was a teg and accord) before 99.It makes sense to me though that they wouldn't because what would be the point of having the VTi and a type R when they would be of the same performance breeding?Most of the pics I've seen are type R knock offs.I've never known anyone with a pre 99 civic type R,just teg's and accord's.But if someone can show me an ad for it,then I will concede that there was one.Not arguing just trying to get the facts.

I think it's a real type-R, but offcourse I can't be 100% sure.

And for the VTi, the only place were both cars hit the market was Japan. They both had the EK4 and the EK9. As for Europe, we got a VTi, but no Type-R so their was no competition in Europe, or the US.

BTW: another proof the '96-'98 model type-r existed, search for a Type-R front lip in the Wings West database. You'll probably find 2 different lips.

I can believe that,the b16b was the jdm type R motor and I think that it may be pre-99,so ok.The wingswest thing though that is what I mean by knock off,I would use that as proof cuz they have skyline front ends for civics and I don't think nissan and honda ever teamed up,lol.Cool I'll look into the pre-99 civic R,actually thinking about it your are probably right since 92-95 was the last siR.

I can confirm that, that is a Type R, and yes only JDM - a mate had one.
