Since when is it illegal to pop it into neutral once in a while if your going down a long escalating hill or something of the sort? I'm not saying its a smart thing to do, but I have never heard an official law saying its illegal to do.

Just figured I should chime in here in case people ever do come in here anymore. I averaged about 37mpg this weekend with mostly all highway traveling.

It's got to ride like a shopping cart with 44psig in stock tires! I'd be careful with that. I could see ~40mpg per the DIC on some trips, but you wont average 40mpg over a tank of gas.

Hey Joel

For the heck of it, I pumped mine up to 40 across the board one day. Yup just like riding a board.

Found that at 38 ft and 32 rear the mileage, per the DIC, dropped a whole .5 MPG. FWIW I like my butt where it is and not up around my neck plus I like how the car handles with the current PSI setting.

Going on a second cross country trip in a few weeks. Now I've got the good oil in her and about 5K miles on it. Should be interesting to see if I can hold my earlier #s with the cooler temps.

Re: Colbalt's actual MPG-What will it get

Well my reply to you two is that my tires are rated for 44psi and as for it riding like an iron tired wagon, well maybe a little rougher but after all I did not buy this care for a great ride. For that I got a cadillac STS touring sedan with air ride supension. It Floats on the Highway.
I average 34mpg on a tank of gas and my best has been 42mpg. Basically stock except all fluids ar synthetic including wheel bearings and hubcaps are spun aluminum moonies.

How about doing me a favor and working on your grammar a bit here before posting next time...

Also, I did not say that I was listening to anybody in here about whether or not it was illegal. I was just questioning your statement for a fact. If you think about it, how are they going to fight such an issue when you are technically putting it into neutral whenever you push the clutch in to shift gears on manual transmissions? If you were truly correct then that would be insisting that it is illegal to properly shift a manual transmission in every state... Now, I know that your going to argue and say that you were talking about automatic transmissions and not manuals. Ok, but neutral is neutral whether it be in an automatic or manual. So technically they cannot enforce such a law or prove whether or not you were truly in neutral while going down the road...

How about this... I do not have any "buddies" in the locker room that I am listening to. And who are you to be any different than the next guy in his opinion on this matter? For all we know, you could be pulling this "law" straight out of your ass and making it up as you go. Instead of just saying it is and that I should check the laws, how about YOU check the laws and prove it to us if it is so true? Then maybe we will actually believe you. Until then, I won't believe a thing you say about this "neutral law" and I will stand where I stand in my opinion...

Oh and just so we are on the same page, I don't mean for you to call somewhere, find out, and then just tell us somebody told you. I mean post a link to this law on an official government website...

So I will believe you now on the aspect of it being a law in Michigan. But... That does not give you the right to say I never took drivers education. You should know better than to say such an ignorant thing.

Just because it is true in Michigan still doesn't mean it is true in ALL states as you have stated...

Exactly my point...

Wait a minute... You just got done saying it wasn't safe a few posts ago, yet you just admit that you have done it before. Even despite the fact that you knew it was illegal... And then you even turn around and preach to others about not doing it despite your own actions... Did you actually get busted doing it or something?

int the state of Mi, its also illegal to swear in front of women and children. and while we're at it, what about the law about how a woman cant cut her hair unless her man approves it? its a law that isnt enforcable, isnt enforced, and isnt dangerous at all. i have a 5 sp. every day i come home from work and i coast down a mountain. the car hold 72 mph the entire 2.3 miles down it. aside from going 7 mph over, not a prob at all. how about coming to a stop at lights? am i summposed to stall my car as i come up? no. i coast up in neutral. get real man.
