Matt wanted to hype it up. I'm sure it will happen. Should be interesting to see what happens.

Re: Matt (Stig) v. Bobby (Me) ~ MR2 v. Silverado

Truck is a 2001 Silverado Extended cab, short bed. 5.3L L33 truck engine making 285hp, with 325ft-lbs torque, 4-speed automatic... weighin in at roughly 4400-4500lbs.

0-60 in roughly 11 minutes. By far the best truck ever.

Only thing I've got going for me is that I've got an automatic making the launch easy, and consistent shifting. Bobby being new to the car, I'm hoping on driver error and he'll botch the launch and/or miss a shift.

It's all for fun either way. It'll be fun to see what'll come out... they're complete opposites of each other in every way. One has a grunty engine, but has weight to haul around, the other is underpowered but weighs next to nothing.

I'll bring my Gtech pro, we'll Gtech the MR-S while we do it.

20 bucks more says the Gtech says the Truck is faster than the MR

Re: Matt (Stig) v. Bobby (Me) ~ MR2 v. Silverado

hahah doubtful... I Gteched it once with a halfassed launch with a full tank of fuel it was like 16.9 or something crazy. I think with 1/4 or less load of fuel and an actual launch I can shave maybe .5 off.

Optimistic yes... but it really was a bad attempt at trying to set any records. Not to mention it's a hard thing to try and test with the Gtech, hard to find a place where you've got a full 1/4 mile to run the car up to full speed, plus room to slow down... without the threat of police.

Re: Matt (Stig) v. Bobby (Me) ~ MR2 v. Silverado

I race a silverado when my saturn worked, beat it, so i am pretty confident the toyota can pull off the W.

I have a Gtech and the 1/4 times are fairly good on, but the 0-60 is way off. Anyone know if that is input error or the thing just doesnt record it that well

Car and Driver actually pulled off a 0-60 9min and 27 seconds. Must have been a well-prepped track....

Re: Matt (Stig) v. Bobby (Me) ~ MR2 v. Silverado

^^^ now that going nowhere in a hurry....

Truck - 4235lbs - 285/325 = 14.85 lbs per hp

MRS - 2195 - 138/125 = 15.90 lbs per hp

very close.. truck is like a wall going tdown the road and the MR-2 is more aerodynamic.

The truck is an automatic and the car is manual. I'm going to say neck and neck the whole way through on a straight away with the auto FTW. I think the shifting gears in the MR-2 will be the dif...

Re: Matt (Stig) v. Bobby (Me) ~ MR2 v. Silverado

Good gawd...nearly 3 pages of this...

Didn't think much debating would happen here because it's a high 16 sec. auto-truck versus a low 15 sec. manual-car....
