Re: top speed limiter
lol schister...
Well, If you add a turbo to your setup and only gain 5 hp then I would definetly be killing some bitches cuz that shit ain't cheap!... For a definetly answer to your question... if you are planning on buying a wideband o2 sensor then Yes 650 is well worth it, if you're not.. which I don't see why you wouldn't... then the 650 dollar version would act the same as the other cheaper version. Here's the thing to do... find somebody/people around you that want to buy it and say that you'll pay for part of it so you can use 2 credits for your car. A buddy of mine and myself went in on it so it was only like 330 instead of like 650, and we both got good tunes out of it. Plus if they're close to where you live then if you ever doubt the tune and wanna check it again or change some stuff then they're right there and you dont have to pay to re-tune it.... The size turbo doesn't really matter, it's more about how much psi your car can handle. If you a stock motor with no internal mods then I wouldn't try to push any more than 8-10psi or else your find yourself replacing your bottom end and maybe your tranny. For a decent turbo setup including HPT, WB o2, FMIC, Turbo, Pipes, Wastegate, BOV, Oil Lines, Extra costs you'll be looking at 2 grand easy. So before asking if it's worth it, It's not going to be worth it unless you turbo it; and you see what that will cost... but still it's SOOOOOO FUUUUNNNNN. lol |

Re: top speed limiter
not to highjack this thread or get it locked, but does anybody know if a 1990 cav with the 2.2tbi and a 5speed has a speed limiter? if it does, does anybody know what it tops out at. i have no plans on going past 100-110 at the extremes, i usually cruise between 70 and 90, but every once in a while you come across that looooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooong straight stretch in your trip that you wanna jet for abit.
<ATTN: MODS!! i'm not asking for a way to disable mine, just asking if it has one. THNX!!>

Re: top speed limiter
108...intriging. wierd that its so low, considering my 88 cutlass supreme (w-body) hit 115 before fuel cutout. that was the only time i had that car going that fast too. scared teh shit out of me when it cut out.

I'm thinking about spending another $3000-$5000 on my car, im gonna change the pistons to forged pistons with .02mm overbore, rings, gaskets, injectors, fuel pumps, and thats all mods for the engine that i know for now, maybe there are more modifications thats needed to be made, because i want to boost my car about 12 - 16 psi at least, thats why i wanna beef up the engine first so it can handle around 350-400 HP... I thought the suite comes with 8 credits, if its only 2 per car, then i can get 4 buddies then right? Im in my friend's car club and im sure some of them would LOVE to tune their car... |

Re: top speed limiter
yes 8 creds, with all that you might be safe with 14-15, but I wouldn't try any more than 15. No one could really tell unless they done it... I know a guy with a fully built 2.4 with 15 psi is expected to see 350whp, they have to dyno it to see.
the wideband o2 sensor is just more accurate, it actually can tell you your exact air to fuel ratio (afr) which is a must for a turbo and also makes tuning easy. Stoich (perfect afr) for a N/A application would be 14.7, with a turbo application it all depends... Mine is seeing 11.9 at WOT and 11.5 at idle. Most people say to stay around 12. That's why you see most fpr's are 12:1. When you're searching for injectors just a bit of advice, Brown Tops (36lb, 370cc) injectors clip right into your stock holders... and Green tops (42lb, 440cc) fit easily with a small ammount of soldering .Bottom end will go out first, try to beef it up a bit.... |

After that, depends on how much money i have and how fast i earn it, i might or might not get a turbo... But if i dont get a turbo, what do you have to recommand for some performance upgrade? And if i do get a turbo, what should i get besides the turbo kit? Thanks |

Re: top speed limiter
Yeah, not just me either. My buddy with that yellow 05 cav tried them too and they were nothing but problems he ended up sending them back. They're just a major PITA to install and line up correctly. And on daily drivers they're just not worth the money and hassle. Think about it in the simplest of ways, you're spending over (atleast) $500-$700 dollars for what? To make your doors open a different way that's more difficult then the old way lol. Think about what else you could spend that money on...like turbo parts that you wanted or something you'd actually get use out of and more props from people. Honestly, lambo doors are played out bro, they don't give that Awe factor like they used to. Turbos and other things like that do. Also, everytime a mechanic or somebody else has to work on your car you have to explain to them how to open and close them, and yeah yeah I know we're all supposed to be "tuners" and do things ourselves and mechanics are devils but sometimes you have to give in and take it somewhere. They're just all around not worth it at all imo lol I'll talk trash about them every chance I get lol
