AFAIK JDM cars don't have VIN numbers. Also, don't you think people would be importing GTO's all the time if it was easy, or even difficult, to title and register them here.

Can it be done, yes. However you will first have to make them DOT legal here, and crash a couple of those to prove they are "safe". Then DOT may give you the ability to import and convert GTO's so they are legal here.

Lastly, there is a list of cars that customs has that have American Equivalents and don't need to be converted. The GTO is not on this list. If you do end up following through with all this, I will congratulate you on the biggest waist of money ever spent.

Lets not make this tread about importing... I understand where you guys are comming from and yes It would take some money.. there are lots of loops though.. I could even register it as a kit car and go at it that way if i wanted to...

1000 for title swap?! don't waste your money.

99 front end...like my friend Borat says "very nice!!"
99 wing...again, don't waste your money. unless you want midgets to use it as a park bench, i would keep your 1G wing that flips up and down. coolness factor. OR, you could get the 97-98 hoop spoiler. that things looks good.
HMMM.. never herd of the jdm power folding mirors?? do you have a link?
I really didn't like the 99 wing when it first came out.. but It has grown on me a lot!! I dont really like the hoop spoiler very much

'99 wing FTW!

did anyone ever find out which 3/s spoiler makes the most downforce? I would assume either the AA or the '99 vr4...but that 96 stealth spoiler that stealthee has looks like it might make some interesting numbers...

i remember someone saying that the AA wing was slightly better than the '99 wing and that the hoop spoiler is pretty useless. i don't remember hearing anything on the stealth's spoiler but i'd imagine it isnt doing much considering its sitting right in a low pressure zone (or at least i think it is).

i hope this doesnt make you feel awkward, jason... but i'm going to touch myself to that intercooler tonight. how much was it?

Nope, the 99 is the most aerodynamics body style available. The extended center section of the front bumper makes less air go under the car and the real 99 spoiler is an inverted wing, so it creates down force with the least amount of wind resistance. I don't know if the replicas are like that or not.

Re: Project salvage 3grand is a go!

the stealth spoiler isnt in the least usless area, not on a stealth at least(i've seen it on two neons). the (air flows) behind the doors help to put air to the spoiler just like another car in recent history, oh yea the ferrari 599 gtb

Re: Project salvage 3grand is a go!

ah, glad to be enlightened. i was never too sure on those issues. wouldnt the front active aero on 1g's have a similar effect to the lower bumper on the 99's though?

The 99 plastics are like the AA plastics in the down position, but the gain comes from the actual design of the front bumper being longer and its new shape.
