Re: Blower motor not blowing?
You can also check it with a IR thermometer ( if you have one ).
Check every component's temperature. If you find one that is significantly higher than the others... It is likely ( but not garanteed to be ) your problem. |

Re: Blower motor not blowing?
Lot of good tips.
The original poster, (back in 2007,) stated that he had already replaced the corroded plugs. He may not have checked the blower motor fuse. He may have simply mis-wired it in the process of doing so, or didn't replace the single-plug blade connector. Or he didn't replace the resistor assembly (containing a TCO fuse). Take photos before disassembling and cutting off the old corroded female blade contacts. '94 - https://skydrive.live.com/#cid=0C43F...8D3024191B!391 https://skydrive.live.com/#cid=0C43F...8D3024191B!392 The resistor contacts themselves also corrode, meaning the resistor assembly (if OEM) will also need to be replaced. The metal alloy is DEFECTIVE. Cleaning the male blade contacts up and/or coating with solder is only a temporary patch. The defective metal will continue to corrode except next time, (if not already,) you may not have enough of a wire harness left to reuse. * With exception to the plastic wire harness, do not use junkyard parts. * If wire-extensions are necessary, use the the proper wire gauge and SOLDER, do not crimp or twist-on wire extensions. * Reinstall the blade connectors as they originally were - flat part of the blade facing the harnesses' outer-wall. If the connector melts that wall, it won't lead to a short. * Gold-plated female blade connectors are available in the audio-section of the parts store; are/should-be designed for high amperage draw situations. |
