Re: Turboback Exhaust Question

I don't know if I'd trust ebay pipes for bolting up, that might be a bitch.

Re: Turboback Exhaust Question

Oh I see, so would that bolt up to the o2 housing then? That downpipe is really straight, is that what it has to be like for awd models?

Would that downpipe, custom 3" piping to this muffler be a good idea then?

Re: Turboback Exhaust Question

I'm not too sure about that downpipe, but just be leary about it if you do get it, expect some fitment issues. And that muffler....I don't think it's a genuine Apexi N1, I just think it's an aftermarket N1 "style" muffler, which may have a different sound. If I were you, go with a trusted downpipe, custom 3" exhaust, and an original Apexi N1.

Re: Turboback Exhaust Question

There is a difference in shape between the fwd and awd downpipes right? Which one is straighter cuz that dp is straight and others i see have a pretty drastic bend in them.

I found this, it shows halfway down the bends needed for awd and fwd...

Re: Turboback Exhaust Question

I took a good look at my stock downpipe and it seems like its pretty straight like the one on ebay. So Im going to order the one off of ebay http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/Stain...10189402QQrdZ1

There shouldnt be fitment issues since it replaces the cat and I am going to get the catback custom made when I get the downpipe on. Im gonna order this muffler also

http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/3-INL...08252563QQrdZ1

So that will be full 3" turboback exhaust which will hopefully flow a lot better than the restricting setup now and also sound nice. What do you all think?

Re: Turboback Exhaust Question

great buy! but i dont know how that muffler is going to sound, its a knock off. a buddy of mine had one, and the inside of the muffler broke, the part with the holes, and was rattling around inside the muffler and he sounded like a pissed off kid in a honda when just cruzing, and under boost, it sounded like the back of the car was going to blow up! just be cairful with it...

EDIT: same downpipe i have! i got the AWD Exhaust because i was getting really close to a AWD conversion, but then i got destracted...

Re: Turboback Exhaust Question

Will having full 3" exhaust help the turbo to spool a lot faster? Because I dont hit full boost (14psi) until like 5k rpm

Re: Turboback Exhaust Question

i have a 3 inch megan downpipe on mine. It was a bit of a bitch getting it to fit. the flanges going to the test pipe didnt line up at all. It took an extra hour and a trip to the parts store to get some couplers and some 3 inch exhaust pipe. Fixed that problem and then the flex part of the exhaust was rubbing on the oil pan, so i got some exhaust wrap and fixed that problem. Now that i put the evo3 on i guess it sits lower so i now have about a 1 inch gap between the exhaust and the oil pan. But since then i heard that they fixed the fitment issue with the megan downpipes for the awd. All things considered i still think it was a good buy, it just wasnt direct replacement. It did line up with the o2 housing though. Just thought id share my dp story.

Re: Turboback Exhaust Question

I called exhaust pros today and they were being gay and said that they wouldnt touch the car because the downpipe eliminates the cat. They even said that they wouldnt touch it if i put the downpipe on and then had them finish the rest.

The funny thing is, I had them put 3" catback on last year and I had a test pipe on there so i dont see what the hell the difference is..

But anyways I have a friend with a local exhaust shop so im going to him.

Re: Turboback Exhaust Question

yeah, shops around here wont touch mine, but i had mine made with a cat, and my buddy and i made the test pipe that i could bolt in place of the cat... universal cat off ebay was only $35 by catco, and the test pipe is basically free if you have a friend with a welder... also, bolting back on the cat for inspection, makes life so easy!

Fuck emissions....just one more reason why ND rocks besides a driving age of 14.5.
