Re: WIP Monaro V2

Finally some more movement on the Monaro. Not much, but I'm back in the mood! I've lowered the ride height, so it looks a bit more realistic. You can just about tell from my crappy picture. Working on the badging at the moment.

Re: WIP Monaro V2

Looks really good. From what you've started with to make what you have is incredible...the bodywork looks flawless. Liking the door opening too, and the colour of the paint, though it does look more purple in your last picture. Ride height is good too. Keep it going.

Re: WIP Monaro V2

Can anyone spot my deliberate mistake?

That's mostly polish in paint bubbles, but since it's metallic paint, I can't sand it. Looks like an evening of polishing in front of me. There's only a few spots like this though - the rest of it's looking pretty good.
I'm planning to try and fashion the metal badging by putting down a strip of BMF and making a decal that hopefully matches the body colour to put over it, leaving the badge part clear. I don't know if this'll work effectively, but I don't know any other way to try. The other option I suppose is to PE the parts, but that's a bit above me! If anyone has any tips, I'd be glad to hear them.
Other than that, I just have the clearcoat to do, then the lights and the window trim. Hopefully.

Re: WIP Monaro V2

Small update:
The body is painted, clearcoated and polished, and I'm finishing off some details. I've also done the window surrounds and the rain channels in the roof with semi-gloss black.

The headlights are just BMF pressed into the headlight sockets:

I masked the glass and sprayed the inside, then separated the various panels - they didn't really fit as a single piece:

More soon!

Re: WIP Monaro V2

I keep hoping that my next post will be to say it's finished! But sadly, it's not. Yet. A little more movement - the taillights fitted with covers painted, and the glass in. Some tidying up needed around the light covers, but I'm pretty please with how they turned out.

One thing I learned here - if you've got to take a drill to your kit, do it BEFORE you paint it.... I had to repair a couple of dings in the duco!

Next post, hopefully, will be the final one!
