Walter,

Another member gave me the link to this thread. I asked about some more details concerning the body mods you did.

Do you minds sharing some details about at and the way you did the black trims around the windows?

Thanks

That was suggested to me before. That would be so cool to have turbo kits made with Chris' Body kits for all the ones that have engines. *pinch me* I'm dreaming. I don't have the time to do those right now, but I'd like to consider it since you're not the only one to ask. One problem though, Each kit is made for a specific application and is avery tight fit. Some may get frustrated and accidentally break something. The turbo itself, blowoff valve, wastegate, and the intercooler are easily copied, but the exhaust manifold and the piping is kinda hard to replicate. But if I get spare time I'll give it a shot and let you guys know.

For your rim question, I don't think that the Pegasus website (www.pegasushobbies.com ) is all that great. You'll have to try calling and inquire then. The rims that are on the S2K are called the Bellagios with the aluminum rings.

Well, this is gonna take awhile and may bore some who don't like to read, but I'll give it a shot. I remeber you from the other thread. Now I'll answer.

Black trim around windows-There is a bit of information on that in the FAQ's section and I remember I posted my method somewhere. Just do a search.
Mods are:
1-The body was badly shaped so I wasn't too happy with it. I didn't decide to do a bodykit until after reshaping things. Then I figured that I might as well make a bodykit since I'm doing so much work to it already. It had been in that unfinished ugly state for almost 2 years until I joined this forum. I made the kit using existing parts of the unused body pieces left over. The side skirts were scratch built using sheet styrene and Bondo spot putty. The front fenders were bulged a bit with some Gunze 500 primer brushed on. The rear fender wells were also widened using this method. Now it results in the rounded shape that you guys see. The stock ITR from Revell is way too square! If you put a untouched body next my ITR, you'll notice the differences. I have two more ITR's
like that. Don't know if I want to build them. The only things on the body that I didn't touch was the whole glass canopy area. Even the roof itself was reshaped. The rear trunk are was just sanded down to round out the rear profile and all panel lines were rescribed. All joints/ seams between bumpers and body, including fuel filler door were filled in for that seamless look.

2-Since I was doing so much to the body, I decided to make a detailed engine. First it was just a fuel rail, throttle linkage, some fuel lines, and a radiator cap. Then I thought it was kinda bland and i thought why not a turbo system? Everything on the turbo system was scratchbuilt, the Snail, manifold, piping, blowoff valve, wastegate, and the intercooler.
There's a link at the top of the this thread that shows the build up of the car with lots of pics to somewhat help. Sorry, guys I can't do it step by step-too time consuming.

3-The wheelset was stolen from one of my Revell Porsche EVO's (ughh!!) with the ITR kit tires. Custom hubs were fabricated to work witht he Tamiya style wheels. The stock ones had some rivet looking metal thing to fasten the wheels. These things don't work too well. The suspension was lowered by cutting and some bending (this was the easiest thing to do when modifying this kit).

4-The paint was shot with Tamiya Lacquer spray first, then tinted with a pearlescent blue from Testor's brand ACRYLIC (yes acrylic) with a green pearl powder mixed in. The clear glosscoat is also Testor's Gloss acrylic. The Hood was treated with the same clear after appying a coarbon decal from Scalemotorsport.

Well there you have it! Hope I didn't put anyone to sleep:o . My fingers are tired from typing after working on these little plastic things and sniffing paint 'n' glue all day.
Thank you guys for all the kind and encouraging words. This forum really is great. If it wasn't for you guys and and my trusty Digicam, I would have no motivation and would probably have sold half of my collection.

-Walter

The color is made by House of Color in their Kameleon Kolors. The color is claimed to shift from silver to green. I have seen purple, green, blue gold, bronze, silver, and something almost black in direct sunlight. Never used on a model before this one. It's a bit pricey when you buy all the required stuff to paint. The paint by itself was about 18-24 US dollars. Then you gotta buy the black or dark gray base coat/ dark gray primer and the clear coat. You'd actually be able to use any clear, but the house of color or Dupont one works best. Oh, you must use Acrylic Lacquer thinner for this paint!!

1 bottle will do about 4- 5 typical model car bodies when applied properly. I read a piant book on use of this paint and its recommended for the painter to have 75% overlap of this paint when spraying. -I hope I remember correctly. Any auto painters out there? Otherwise you'll get streaked results and it looks bad! Streaking is not as noticable in other types of paint, but in this stuff-it is. I learned the hard way.
Sorry to rant on. Just some info for some that want to try it out. I know several members have already used something similar.

Thumbs up Contest Results in.

Hey guys, I'm back form the contest. Didn't have time to post my results from Sunday until now.
The ITR didn't place in the Factory stock/Factory Replica class, but the GT3 Cabriolet took a First and the 360 Spider took a second. The 3rd spot was awarded to a Porsche 911. Guess it would be bad if I took 1st, 2nd, and 3rd. My Mugen AVEX NSX took a second in the closed wheel competition class. I don't really know if the ITR ws in the right class, but it doesn't look like a race car. The only other categories were Street rod/ Hot rod, Cruisers/ Lowriders, and Curbside. I didn't think it be in any of these categories, but the Factory replica. Oh well. IPMS regulations applied to this show as it was a local IPMS chapter.

My GT3 got screwed with right after the announcement of the winners. I know who it was also. The guy kept eyeing me the whole time and when I picked up my awards he got up to get his unpainted, snap together kit and came back into the room. He looked very suspcious, so I went to check my stuff out and the SOB mesed with the convertible top!!
He made it shiny by rubbing something on it when it was supposed to be flat! That Motherfu@#er!!!!!!

I guess I'm lucky nothing else happened to my other cars. The four cars were grouped together. Damn jealous Bastard!!! Don't know why he'd get so mad because he didn't even put any effort into a snap kit that was unpainted. He was happy when we were arranging our stuff and being real cocky and proud. He was over 30 years old for crying out loud! Immature asshole!!!

Sorry for venting here guys, but I didn't let it spoil my day yesterday because I can repaint!!!! I've got a few pics from the show that I may post of some great stuff.
