Re: Iat Sensor / Cold Air Intake

No problem guys, I gave up on IAT sensor modifications, I think I saw something in All data if I am not mistaking that somehow IAT controls purge solenoid. PCM sees certain temp etc....... opens purge ...

I saw what XI did with his mufler headers, cool stuff, I am not ready for new headers but I was thinking to graduly build my exhaust system. This is what I am planning to do now you tell me if this is possible. I want new 4" exhaust pipe and CAT from 5.7L camaro and resonator of the same diameter. Later I will get headers custom made with same diameter. It is possible to do something like that and yes place will be tight under the hood. But will I have any problems with O2 sensors since CAT will be much bigger. Thanks in advance, almost left this one no mufler just straight flow resonator. Then headers custom made, cut valve seats (bigger) + bigger valve heads = big mouth and big a.. works better.

you can imagine what woud oversize pistons do on top of all this. for 3.1l

Re: Iat Sensor / Cold Air Intake

Glad you didnt get that gas & money grubing device.

The 4" might be overkill, unless you are running a drag car.
Mine is 3" down to the Cat flange then 2.5" all the way back. To big and you loose back pressure which can create problems with a stock engine.

Good Luck with your Mods.

If you intend on keeping the car all motor, 2.5inches will be plenty for your needs. You'll have enough velocity to keep things moving out the ass end quickly. 3inch will probably be a tad bit too big.

side note

you're not looking for back pressure. what you're looking for is keeping the velocity of the exhaust stream up. if the exhaust is too small it turns into a bottleneck, yes high velocity but too much back pressure, stifling the efficiency of the motors ability to crap out the exhaust. You need to size the exhaust plumbing just right so that you keep the velocity of the exhaust gasses high and the backpressure low.
