Re: Tamiya Volkswagen Beetle - 1966

Will, why didnt you tell me about this?! That is going to be a kickass car, and the door hinges are looking swell. Can't wait to see more.

Thanks for the words everyone. To answer the collective question, I'm going to use the same kit set for the girl I've used for the others I've made. The Prieser 1:24 Eve figure set. You can see what I've done previously on my Hilux liftup and my M3.
KIller!!
I am gonna PM you,I know where you can get the BRM wheels that are on that car in resin.

Excellent start willimo. I'm gonna have to use your hinge method for my drag beetle now. I hadn't planned on doing it originally, but this is too cool.

shifty217 - Care to share that link? I'm also after some brm clones.

Re: Tamiya Volkswagen Beetle - 1966

Holy freakin' cow, deedlit! That's perfect! Great reference for the car and what she's wearing (which is all the more stylish now that I can see all of it). Thanks!

Here's a quick short update, because I've fortunately had some time off work (I quit! YAY!) and have been a painting foolio.

I painted it with a mixture of RAL 8015 and Nighthawk Black pearl from Zero paints (with the repaint of the Bug, I waste a ton of my Honda paint! ) I think it's a touch dark to match the prototype but I like it and it'll work great, I think. I still need to polish it a little, as I've got a little orange peel. Comments on crits on it, let me know! Thanks!

Also, there's a 23 window bus I'm working on, and I put it in the background because I want some real criticism on the rust. How does it look? I know it's hard to nail down and it looks good to me, but I'm usually wrong about weathering.

Thanks!

The Beetle look marvellous! That brown really grows on me...

I can't comment on the Bus, please post better pictures. in this one it look almost like a regular two-tone paintjob.

This is a super project. I will be following along for sure. And thanks for the great hinge idea too.

Very nice paint on the bug, but you're right, a light polishing is required
