Re: Pirelli Peugeot 307 WRC - Gigi Galli

Once more, seeing the can (I verified, I don't know how I could be stupid enough to confuse Camel yellow ts34 and chrome yellow ts47) ts 47 would be the right choice but seeing the result ts16 is the good choice !

Well done

Don't beat yourself up over the TS34/TS47 mistake. Just a mistake.

The Pug is TS47 in proper lighting. I'm happy now. I thought I was going crazy, but it turns out I am just mistaken

I hope this die cast chassis debacle has been re-thought at Tamiya.
Color me dissappointed.

Re: Pirelli Peugeot 307 WRC - Gigi Galli

Okay so TS-47 is chrome yellow. That makes a lot more sense. I've used that colour before and it is very light dependant, moving from lemony to orangey depending on the conditions. Looks like Renaissance got it right afterall.

On another issue, did Galli use the 15 spoke wheels on the 2006 TdC or the 10 spokes that come with the base kit?

15 spoke..... but I have none. I'll use the base kit wheels for now.

Re: Pirelli Peugeot 307 WRC - Gigi Galli

Don't laugh people, but I just put my 307 into some brake fluid.
I wasn't happy with the color after all (no sh*t).

At first I indeed thought that TS47 would be the right color, as I valiantly defended my decision in an earlier post. But this morning I took the car outside and had to conclude that the color was too dark for me.
So I'm going to try again, but now with X8 (which lies somewhere between TS16 and TS47).

On another note. I stole the rims from a Bozian 206 I've lying here and adapted them to fit the 307 (from male to female).
So I will be using the 15-spoke rims. I have to, because I cut up the original ones for the female adapter...
I don't understand why Renaissance didn't make a transkit for this. Wouldn't be the first time and it would make the car more accurate...

Well, I'm off to scrub the body of the 307.
I think I'll post some pictures of my progress (and how I converted the rims) in another thread, don't want to hijack this thread...

Re: Pirelli Peugeot 307 WRC - Gigi Galli

Been trying to paint the window and door frame black recently.
I'll keep the horror of the mess I made to myself till I clean it up.

Nice progress. How are the decals? Easy to apply or did you encounter difficulties?

About the window frames. PMan wrote a howto a long time ago. I use this technique as well and it works good. Be sure to use a new or sharp knife though.

Decaling done.
Still have detail bits to do. Also still trying to figure out some kind of reflective quality for the side windows.

Re: Pirelli Peugeot 307 WRC - Gigi Galli

Gonna call it done. I'm getting better, but still have a way to go.
I'm happy with this build.

STILL looking for the metal transfer driver's side mirror ~~PING~~ from the tweezers sometime last evening..

It needs a clean-up and final waxing.
It'll look just fine and will be a compliment to the collection.

Tamiya's Impreza 98 Safari kit contains reflective stickers for the windows, perhaps you can get hold if this...
