Re: look what ive been doing

nice, i'm in the process of building a small block for my 91 formula. mines a 355 with vortec heads. i have a question though, can i use the old pushrods from my 91 tpi 350 motor or will i need newer ones. i'm guessing they would be the same length, but i'm just curious as to the life span of pushrods.

I hope that 4l60e doesnt cost you hardly anything, because there's hardly a difference between it and the 700R4. the only benefit you're getting there is computer control. There's little power handling benefit. You will still need to toughen it up for that engine.

I'd beef up the 700R4 (like I did mine) with servos, boost valve, reaction shell, and kevlar band.

start a new thread if you have a different topic to talk about. buy new pushrods. doesnt matter if they are the same length. they dont cost that much. they develop wear patterns that can cause valvetrain failure when reused in a different engine.

Re: look what ive been doing

well id be buying the 4l60e one for the electronic tunability as well as it will be a newer fresher trans. Mine has 100 k on and though it works it slips a little and i have my suspicians about a quarky converter. I guess i could rebuild the 700r4 but then i have to figure out how to hook up stuff like overdrive lockup and tv cable. i should be able to find a 4l60e with about 50 k on it for around 600 dollars
