Gears and a shift kit. You really need both...

You've got too many goodies in that engine to be wasting them with a stock shift pattern...

well...i'd love to get both, but that may not be an option...then again, b-day and christmas If I can get shift points to 5grand and hard quick shifts, with 3.73 gears, that will really make me faster

Hey TV, all my previous race challenges are off every time you mod your car

My people will have to do a study to determine if we can enter the ring with you, and there's a bunch of red tape and procedures, yadda yadda, yadda

Well, if my recollection of the early 90s birds is right, you should have a A4LD tranny, and an 8.8 rear, right? Consider before you dig into the tranny, replacing it with something like an AOD-E, or one of those 5 speed autos.

The gears are a must have!

the normal T-5 is a POS tranny, a built one is good, but way the hell too much work to fit onto my bird, and too much money

I'd love to get a AOD like the stangs, but thats gonna cost me several hundred more than i'll have for christmas and b-day combined

I have the 4R70W Transmiton, much like the AODE

The problem being it goes 1-D-OD-N-R-P So, I rev to 5grand in 1st, then it shifts at 4.3 in the other gears, if I could have the shift points changed *like at a dyno* this would help alot.

Oh, isn't the 4R70W a truck tranny?

I was talking about the 5 speed automatic tranny, I know it was used in the 97 aerostar...

since i know we've talked about it before...

gears.
they make a ton o difference....

screw the music... i've been rolling around with my new titanium exhaust, and no radio, just because i like the way it sounds... and it kinda drowns out the music anyways...
i had a decibel meter on it, and it hits 116db... kinda loud, but oh so sweet...

oh yeah, on topic... gears.

<blink, blink>

Anyways, you've got a decent build going, without getting into anything crazy like blowers or raised compression. With a tranny shift kit, and gears, you'll be able to make the most of what you've done.

I really don't see the point in spending as much as you have on an engine if the gearing is set up for long distance cruising...

Ha, the 5.4 is a weak engine! Use the 6.8 Triton!

Come on, 7 liters of OHC smallblock V10, how could you not! Think of the possibilities with 10:1 compression, good dual exhaust, a couple good cams and a full porting job? I think 400 hp is not unreasonable.

I've seen the swap done in a Mustang, and it weighs LESS than the 5.0

Did you read my post in Holley vs Edelbrock about the 400M? I could give you some pretty good formulas for that engine, and you could canabilize a few parts from your 5.0 HO if you went down that road.

You can usually get one from a junkyard, with a C6 attached for about $500. A rebuild kit with forged 8.3:1(I know, it's still too low) pistons from Summit costs $430. Lots of parts(including heads) are directly interchangeable from Cleveland motors! In fact, it's a 2 barrel 351C, with an extra 50 cubes, and really restrictive exhaust ports.

That would be a good engine to build as a spare, and I bet your manifolds and fuel injection stuff would fit, if you had an adapter fabbed up.

Or you could go the path of the man, and make your own intake manifol, out of tube aluminum and an aluminum box section!

With supercharging or turbocharging, this engine makes SICK power.
