Re: Subaru Impreza WRC "Fruité" Monte Carlo 99 - Panizzi Bros

Hi Phil

This shot may help you. From Rallycourse 1999/2000.

If you look very carefully you can see the Subaru name on the rear window.

As to panel lines, I am with you. If you look at them on this photo, they are very faint.

Woooowowwwowowwww...

the pic I missed !!

Ok you're right about the triangle... I couldn't see it on my reference pic and S27 building instructions doesn't figure it...

For the subaru name I don't see it on the pic but will agree with you as I was very surprised not to see it in the decal sheet.

That's why I said you were wrong (I didn't forget them) and there were absent (from the decal sheet I meant)

In fact I see I had very poor reference pics for this car...

But the most incredible with your pic is that I really see very well now how exactly are the antennas !!!

Thank you very much !

Phil

Concerning the nuts under the seat to fix the model in the display box: I do this since I use the boxes. That is a reason, why I usually don´t superdetail the chassis.

As voyager said: the model looks a little bit unstructured without panel-lines, and yes, it is too hard to use black on a white car. So I suggest to deepen the panellines with a hobby knife before painting the body, this gives more natural shadow and / or to blacken them before painting the body to enforce the shadow affect (like the preshading of the airplane modellers)

Hi Micha,

thank you, very good tip, I know it and sometimes ever tried it but wasn't really convinced...

But for sure this model seems a little bit "too white".
But once more (and I now have a support thanks Malscar !! ) I prefer that to the risk of messing the paint or giving too much irealistic effect...
Most pics don't show panel lines, it's only a light effect.
But on a real car all that effects normaly take place according light, persons looking at the cars etc.
I think that on a scale model (which is a fixed representation of the car...) it could be usefull to add light panel lines.

I will think to that on my next models.

Thanks again for you support and advices

Phil

Another missing thing on the decal sheet I've already noticed is the "vignette" (??) in the right bottom corner of windscreen...
I would probably be able to find one in a Tamiya kit...
