Re: 1/43 Tameo Ferrari F2004M

Small update. I have been sanding and filing and filling gaps, taking off flash, etc. Metal seems to take a lot more prep-work that good old fashioned styrene..

In the first pic, the wings and mirrors are just stuck on temporarily, so if something's crooked, that's why. The second pic is some gaps that I filled, and the third is the huge gap under the nose that I filled with solder that gave me so much trouble..

Re: 1/43 Tameo Ferrari F2004M

Good!
A little suggestion......
Fix the cooling exaust after red painted.....The result will be amazing.
The same thing for 2 small wings behind their.
For best finish result,Try to drill small holes(0.2 or 0.3 mm....I dont' know exactly in inches)To reproduce rivets, like 2 cup on the nose, and around airscope .
It' s a simple work that will become ur model into special F1 1/43.....
Have a look at my last posts like F248 China gp 2006 closed version, not the last one i made....
The post ,i think , is dated on november or fisrs december 2006....
So ......Have a good modeling!

Hey thanks, yeah, I have been watching your thread, good stuff.

As far as the wings on the side pods.. the problem I see with sticking them after painting is they are supposed to be one piece with the pods themselves (at least the reference I could find looks like it) and if I stick it after, it'll have a slight gap that will bother me...

Re: 1/43 Tameo Ferrari F2004M

This is reaaaaly going slow due to my complete lack of experience with metal kits, but here is a small update.

First off, I had a few problems. I had some putty and parts break apart while I was trying to sand them smooth and had to do some repairs, then I ended up sanding too much on the back engine cover/fin part and deformed the shape, so I had to rebuild it with epoxy putty. So now that it's repaired, I decided to mount the side pod wings before painting to avoid gaps (hope this doesn't bit me in the ass when painting). Front wing is just stuck on temporarily. Rear wing is built, but as you can see it's propped up for the photo.. the side wings are half done.

So I guess it's moving along ok, all things considered..

Re: 1/43 Tameo Ferrari F2004M

Well, I finally painted the red and it's finally looking like some progress is being made. I have to buff out a couple dust spots, but it's ready for decaling after that.

In case you're wondering, the paint is Finisher's "LUMI RED" and having seen a real Ferrari F1 (I think it was the F2003) in person, I have to say, it's pretty close to the real color. Unfortunately, red, especially bright red is probably the hardest color to photograph digitally and show it's true color on a browser so this is as close as I can get without setting up my lights and stuff.. as a side note, this is my first time using Finisher's and it looks pretty good so far.

Re: 1/43 Tameo Ferrari F2004M

I've been decaling this thing for a few days.. so many decals in an F1 car.. ugh.. still a few to go. Gotta finish the suspension and the cockpit, but it's getting there.

Re: 1/43 Tameo Ferrari F2004M

It's already an amazing build but when I consider the fact that it's 1/43rd scale, it becomes even better!!

Re: 1/43 Tameo Ferrari F2004M

Yay.. i'm almost done. The wheels and front and rear wing are just stuck on for the photo. I still have to add the wings just before the sidepods, and a couple other minor things, and do some panel lines. I am working on a simple display base, nothing fancy. So here's where i'm at at this point.
