Re: DISCUSS: About Ferrari's 60th anniversary
That's a killer idea gio! I've the same thought to make custom plate decals for MCR(you know what's that~~~
). Will be quite nice!!! Rod k2: no will be no limited to any appointed model, as uncle stevenski said:Build a Ferrari in any way you want to commemorate 60 years! PS: I agree with gio on styling. |

Re: DISCUSS: About Ferrari's 60th anniversary
I could see a group build- but I don't think I could get excited about limiting it to 2 or 3 kits. Sure, we could all do FXX's, but as many among us (me! me!) would feel it blasphemous to mod it, it would simply be a small group of us trying to one up each other in detailing it. Isn't this already happening anyway? I saw my first 599 this weekend- it's better looking in person than I expected, but it doesn't embody what I think of as the spirit of 60 years of Ferrari.
I think a much more interesting and fitting tribute would be for us as a group to build as many individual models of significant Ferraris from the past 60 years- all factory stock (not necissarily box stock!), and all in factory colors. Specially designed PE or decal 60th aniversary license plates would be a good way to tie them all together. Ideally, the 'big four' (Enzo, F50, F40, 288) plus the FXX should be covered, and as many other 'significant' Ferraris as people wish to build. And then a year from now when they're all done, we make a gallery here of them all.

Re: DISCUSS: About Ferrari's 60th anniversary
A 599 with some throw back spoked wheels ala 250 would be good. Even remodeling the front end with 250 headlights or something like that. If not, I like MPWR's idea so far. Have everyone complete an oob favorite like the F40, F50, Enzo, etc.... That would look great.

Re: DISCUSS: About Ferrari's 60th anniversary
Your idea is constructive and feasible Andy, thank you for giving us that . But I have a question, if we count 10 cars in, so there'll be only 10 entries? There're so many cars were made by ferrari through 60 years but only countable scale models of them, and we have to choose the "most important or significative ones" right? So maybe we couldn't have many. And if we allow one entry of each model we chose the project won't go that popular as we expected and we could loss a lot of fun. But if we allow multi-entries of each model the matter could be like this: many handy models with same factory stock looks, for example we could have many 360s or enzos or any other popular Tamiya or Fujimi kits. And another problem is maybe not everyone can design PE, and even not everyone loves PE.(just for example)
In that case my opinion could probably go with FREEDOM. Let's encourage imaginations, let's express what we want to , and do it in our own way. Your machining works are amazing and so does someone else's hand scratchbuild or pianting tricks, isn't it?

Re: DISCUSS: About Ferrari's 60th anniversary
Tang. I don't think you quite understood what Andy was saying. If I understood correctly he was saying the same as me.
Do any stock Ferrari you feel like doing (INCLUDING F1 IMO). Be as detailed or not as you want. No one "claims" the rights to any particular model (i.e. if by some strange coincidence we end up with ten builds of 360s - so be it). With regards modding a Ferrari. I guess, if that's someone's personal way of paying a tribute to 60 years of automotive excellence. then... why not? ( I hate the idea of tinkering with a classic street car but that's just ME) Most importantly though, I do not see the need for any a priori restrictions for a project like this. In a nut shell - "Build any Ferrari any way you want" Over and Out

Re: DISCUSS: About Ferrari's 60th anniversary
I think the cerebration should include all Ferraris, but IN ADDITION, I thought a fleet of the Challenge cars would be an interesting sub-category. Then, I realized that we only need 31 FXXs, so that might be more reasonable since some have already started or even finished. I'll take the pearl white No.17 (146356), if no one has done it yet.

Re: DISCUSS: About Ferrari's 60th anniversary
I'd be in on a group build, I must have about a dozen Ferrari's waiting to be built. I would probably do a 288GTO or a 246GTS or a 575 SuperAmerica or a 360 Spider or a F355GTS or a 348ts or a F40 or a Enzo or a FXX or a 599 or a....dammit I can't decide, so many wonderful Ferrari's!

Re: DISCUSS: About Ferrari's 60th anniversary
how about everyone builds their personal favorite, and they're tied together the way MPWR suggested?

Re: DISCUSS: About Ferrari's 60th anniversary
i have joined the build. now all i need is a model. i am going to try to convey the original image of Ferrari with modern sheet metal. or carbon. hmm... 360 or 430. or maybe an enzo or a 612 scagletti. challenge paint as someone mentioned earlier.
