in my opinion it looks very similar to the ford focus... the ford focus SVT is an awesome car. It's like the only american car I really like other then of course vipers and so on. I think i may take an SVT focus over the new Si. They are wicked fun to drive and a lot of car for the money!

why not even go for the neon SRT4? you would destroy most hondas, and SVT focii. youd be in the WRX, Mustang GT territory. the Focus is a nice car though, i dont thiknk you can go wrong with whatever you decide... unless you decide to buy a festiva instead

i forget which month of super street i read the article in, but the focus svt is compared to the rsx-s.

from what i rember the svt would walk over the new si..thats in stock form of course ..the aftermarket support is much greater for our lil' grocery getters also, but you know that already

well my boy just yesterday has a hatch like mine but a b16a in it and we FINALLY pulled up next to a kid that had the 2003 si the blue one....kinda 00 si lookish....he already had and intake and rims and exhaust on it which i think he got the upgraded package when he bought it because it still had the temp registration...... but we revved him and he revved back so light was almost turning green and you could tell they were gunna race because of the idle revving.....so what do ya know light turns green for about 2 seconds the si was hanging then the b16 vtec kicked in and we were gone we beat him by like anywhere from 4-6 car lengths it was ridiculous but the si looked tight as hell....1rst time i seen the blue one on the streets....I myself have only seen the new si's run 15.7 as fastest time but io also have been to the tracks in like 4-6 months.

4-6 car lenghts???? what mods does your boy with the b16 have?

in stock form the 00si vs. 02si there isn't much diffrence. it all comes down to the driver..

The '02 Si is a good car, but you can get so much more performance for the money if you look elsewhere.

The SRT4 goes for just shy of 20k. With a good driver, it runs 14.3 in teh 1/4 and since its a turbo, it wont take much cash to get into the mid 13s. The SVT, 1.8t, Spec V all outclass the Si in acceleration. The SVT will easily outhande the honda, but reliability is an issue (the focus has one of the worst reliabilities on the market). Still, I'd take an SVT over a Si.

Doesn't weight matter in all of this? Any hatch with a dropped b16 has around 500 lbs less than an 99-00 SI Coupe, which in turn has 200 lbs less than than the new SI. That's a total of 700 lbs between a B16/Hatch Hybrid and a 02 SI.

True it does....and thats why i say the 99-00 is better.....as far as i know the 99-00 is lighter, seems a lot more powerful even though both are 160hp but yeah def if u have b16 in a hatch its ridiculously fast...and why weight reduction... so i know that but all i did was compare what a newer si did against a car that ran 14.7...

Go with an ex coupe they look way nicer ,I really like the new lines on the coupes the hatchbacks look like a focus or a little station wagon type thing. :apuke: is what I say to the looks of the new hatchs.

my ep3

I have a 2002 civic si, i ran a 15.5 at 89.3 mph with a 60 foot time of 2.2 seconds at a crappy track here in texas( on a warm night). and that was stock. since then i have put Cai (throttle body coolant bypass and intake manifold gasket by hondata also), headers and a catback and havnt run it since. the new si's have potental but you have to know how to tune them. for one they stock fuel setup dumps intirely to much fuel into the motor and they run rich. and the stock exhaust looks like it was made out of straws. and they might as well have put a single cam 2.0 in it because this vtec on one cam is crap, but despite its small down falls with a few mods the car is fast i can vouch for that. and i raced this guy who has one of those new civics with that 1.7 in it with just about every thing they make for it and i waxed him with my 17's on my car with 89 pump gas.
