Re: 1988 K1500 4.3 V-6 engine knock
EGR has to be removed to clean passage. Sometimes you have to chip out the carbon. If you have the manifold off and access to a bead blaster you can clean it and the rest of the manifold easily. But this requires careful cleaning to get all glass beads out of the manifold.

Re: 1988 K1500 4.3 V-6 engine knock
While driving it finally set a trouble code of 43 which my book says is a problem with the spark control system. which should I check the knock sensor or the ESC module. I looked on the back of the engine and all I found there was what looks like the oil pressure sending unit and I can not find the knock sensor there or on the right hand side of the block above the oil pan, would it be under the starter?? I have looked all over for this thing and I can not seem to spot it, can anyone help with the location of it specific for a 1988 4.3 V-6??
