This crossed my mind several times but then I take a time to think about it, Wouldn't it be funny if this technological achivement had headers that could rust?? All the other things were alluminium so why this legendary long last engine would have "cheaper" headers?? As this color was present in other variants of the M30 I took a wild guess that this was a kind of coating maybe to prevent... rust. But then again I have no real reference or knowdlege to back up my guess

Thanks again, and now the pics.

This is what Fujimi give you (look at that flash) and my propose. It's made with K&S tubes, cutted with the K&S tube cutter, then ensembled with a nickel rod. The spring is Radio Shack copper wire painted... not bad eh!

This is how the rear suspension looks, some SMS nuts and bolts. Have to pass brake lines and weather it.

Can you belive Fujimi moldings! this kit is great on some parts and well... you can see for yourself. Not complaining! This kit almost compels you to make improvements.

Next update: Detail tails and findings on...

Thanks.

Hi Rodrigo,

Very nice work on this design classic.

I love your way of thinking... that Fujimi deliberately make their parts cr@p to improve your modelling skills. Hah, you will be extolling the virtues of Revell kits soon

Kind regards,
Billy P

Re: It's a Schnitzer 635csi Spa Winner!!!

Time for update.

In the excellent thread by MPWR about this same car, someone was kind enough to put this picture. I used it for referance and "inspiration" even though is not from the Spa winner car... Again, Fujimi got it right, they include the pulleys. I think neither Tamiya or Hartge version of Fujimi included it.

I had to modify one side to avoid a flying pulley. This is how I did it. Hope pictures speak for themselves.

Next working joints. I had to come with an idea for this because original ones were.. guess? badly moulded and had an specific angle to allow attachment to wheels.

I bought this roll of PVC. This is the one used by jewlers to make necklaces. 50 mts for less than 5 dlls.

Cuted a piece, insert it on nickel rod, opened a suitable hole on the other part.

There you have it! It works!

The piece as it is today, I will wire it as referenced. I have to learn to hide those joint lines better!
I'm trying to find a way of making this and engine driving belts... Any suggestions?

Next update: Misc. bits and pieces

Thanks... hope I'm not boring you by posting every little detail of my build

Fantastic work - all those little tidbits is what we live for in this hooby. Your drivetrain looks great and the careful use of different shades of metallic paints really adds dimension.

what i use is black electrical tape, i use WD-40 to remove the sticky adhesive then cut the tape into thin strips to use for belts.

Really nice work on your BMW....
for the belts I use Masking tape, painted in black and glued on the pulleys.
Cheers,
